Have tried many times to install the software dj pro and keep getting a message box saying installation error immediately after I enter the serial number. TYthe serial number is immediately above the download link for the software in my download center. After that every time you try to start the software all you see is the error message box pop up. I have tried reinstalling, uninstalling then reinstalling, nothing works....... I have disabled my antivirus software and also tried installing as administrator. I'm on windows 7 with a laptop with 4 gb of ram and 32bit, still 200gb free on my harddrive.

The most common cause of this error is installing the software while logged in as one user (E.g: Fred) and then trying to run it as a different user (E.g: Joe.)

The other user is missing the My Documents\VirtualDJ folder. The program will not run without this.

To resolve, please either:

(1) Install the software as the user you will be running it as.

(2) Manually copy the My Documents\VirtualDJ folder across to the other user.

Another cause is installing the software without administrator privileges under Vista or Windows 7. Right-click on the VirtualDJ installation file and choose Run as administrator. Also, we would recommend turning off UAC in Windows Vista and 7: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-user-account-control-uac-the-easy-way-on-windows-vista

Okey guys,

I have the problem that it wont install the last second. vdj.exe seems to be the problem

however there is no problem when I download and install the Home edition.

I have AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2011.

Tried running the file as an admin. Nothing
I tried turning it off. Nothing
Deleted AVG. No Succes

Just bought a new Dell Inspiron N5010 and installed VDJ Free edition. Instalation never ends, I just ended it manually, but it's installed OK. First time I started VDJ, Avira Antivir found this beast:

The file 'C:\Users\dell\AppData\Roaming\taskeng.exe'

Never mind... started VDJ, some mp3 song playing... CPU usage 100%, memory usage 100%, and I'm not even started with video or visuals. Some videos playing, Sonique in the background... still the same 100% CPU and memory usage. Shut down VDJ, started Avira and cleaned that strange beast:

The file 'C:\Users\dell\AppData\Roaming\taskeng.exe'
contained a virus or unwanted program 'TR/Dropper.Gen'

Now, after starting VDJ, CPU usage 10-30%, memory usage always around 40% , playing mp3, videos and visuals. I don't like to be paranoic, but... what's this???

Taskeng.exe is normally a scheduled task manager for Vista and W7 and should be located in the folder C:\Windows\System32. Yours was located on a different folder and therefor probably suspected.
It is not a part of VDJ so removing it will not affect the program.

BTW If you google on taskeng.exe you'll find more reports that this program can keep your PC very busy.

I get this message when trying to install: The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory C:\Program Files\VirtualDJ

Your user account must have administrator privileges to install software.

Right-click on the installation file and choose the option to run as administrator.

When taskeng is in that directory you have a trojan on your machine. Run malwarebytes anti-malware immediately: http://www.malwarebytes.org/ - the official Virtual DJ installers are of course virus and trojan free.

Hmm seems I didn't notice the data is several months old on that, sorry :s

Please contact support: http://www.virtualdj.com/contact/index.html

Please also register your Pro serial number on the page http://www.virtualdj.com/users/edit.html and then download the latest version from the Download Center: http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html

If you have not purchased VirtualDJ Pro then please support the software and its future development by purchasing it: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html

Please also don't post messages in ALL CAPS. This makes your message harder to read and is interpreted as 'shouting' and bad etiquette by most Internet users. Please use proper case for your messages. Please see the forum rules.
