I cannot seem to wrap my head around HOW the syntax needs to be written in order to map the functions of the "TOP_BTN" to use all 4 buttons. The same goes for the "TOP_KNB" and "BTM_BTN" functions. I've searched the forums and cannot find the information I need. What was the reason for grouping the button and requiring complex script to use all the buttons?

I use the same controller and it's probably just you and I lol. I was told a while back that it had to do with the "native" abilities of the device. Where there is a clear distinction of a separate knob/button, the mapping is straightforward. When there isn't, the "action_deck" concept is required. Yes, it is a little more confusing than the straightforward mapping, but once you're done, you're done... and it works great.
I have mine split down the center for complete left deck/right deck control with browser functions at the top. Love it...
