I am new to virtual dj and I want to dl music for an anniversary. as a 73 yo man I will probably use this one time but it seems easier that using my iPod

VirtualDJ is DJ software, not a music library.
Generally, DJs using the software will purchase their music from a reputable source - but there is a subscription called Content Unlimited which can be used to rent music.
