Tema: Mac: Background creation of stems 2.0 and Tag Editor

I use my MacBook Air M2 to download my music, and use VDJ to tag it and create the stems.
After a few days I move the prepared music and stems files to my MacBook i9.
Basically this works fine and saves me some time.

While preparing the music in VDJ on my MacBook Air I noticed that sometimes stems files are missing.
Here is my workflow:
I use drag and drop to „move“ the file from finder to a virtual folder inside the VDJ window.
With a right click I select the „save stems“.
Typically the stems files are created in the same folder as my music file and the song in VDJ gets the blue mark.
Sometimes, not very often, I get the blue mark in VDJ but there is no stem file in the music folder.
When I make a right click it offers me a „delete stems“ in context menu.
When I select this and select afterwards again to create the stemfile, the file is created properly.

I think it has something with using the tag editor while the stems are created in background.
It happened several times in this context, but I can not reproduce it each time.
Maybe also important, I typically only have mp4 video files.

Has anybody notices this too?

I bump this up, as I was able to reproduce it today.
It is a combination of Stem Creation, Tag Editor and playing in active deck.
This is something that typically can occur while track preparation.

Here is what I did.

I moved the track via drag&drop to a virtual folder VDJ, so the track is immediately analyzed.
I the select “save prepared stems” …
Stem creation is starting, the xxx.vdjstems.temp file is created
I open the tag editor, set year and select cover image and save tag.
at this point stems are still created.
Now I move the track to deck and play it.
stem creation (at 60-70%) gets extremely slow slow, nearly stuck …
The tempfile is still there.
Now I drop another track to deck.
the stemfile creation finishes … the temp file disappears, but the real xxx.vdstems file is not created.
But VDJ shows the blue sign that a stem exists.

That this is somehow annoying while preparing tracks is one thing, I can work around.
the more interesting part for me is, that stem creation has multi tasking flaws.
maybe the devs can fix some other, more severe bugs, related to the same multi tasking problem …

Do you have savedStems set to automatically create stems when loaded on deck?
It sounds like the stems were still manually being created from the browser, but then when loading the track also from the deck.

So, if your workflow is always to manually save stems from the browser, you could set 'stemsSavedStems' to Manual instead of Automatic.
