Ok guys I have got this figured out finially. First thing to do is go into the MK2 control panel and under Advanced select "Use External Mixer" Now on the MK2 select Deck B with your headphone selector. Go into VDJ Config to sound setup and select:
Input: None
Output: External Mixer
S. Card: DJ Console
Output Channel: Left Deck: Chan 1&2 Right Deck: Chan 3&4

This will now allow you to use your external mixer to cue and play, but remember to make sure the Main crossfader is in the middle.
For video I just click on the preview boxes to transition between A and B and I uncheck Linked Crossfaders.

At the risk of sounding stupid, do you have to select the "Use external mixer" choice. Sky, you said that you dont use this mode. What is your setup?

external mixer mode is for when you just want to use the mk2 as a soundcard and loose its control funtions , it acts like a 4.1 soundcard so that you can use it with a standard hardware mixer

i have two setups ,


one is a pentium 4 desktop with DM2 controler and a midi keyboard , and two souncards so i can use the timecoded vinyl , which i use for studio work , i send the outputs of this to my CMD 500 cd mixstation



which i then route to the rest of my studio gear such as my line mixer compressors ect ,

and my production gear

and aslo to my 500 watt monitors :) which make me oh so popular with the neigbours =)


the setup i use with the mk2 is a dual core ergo laptop loaded with vista , and i currently just use the mk2 as the mixer and run straight into the amp some times i will take my other Cmd500 with me to an event and use that just to tweak the eq , i might use it with external mode in the future but at the moment it defeats for me the purpose of having the mk2 , because i wanted it to control vdj , in all respects and be a light card , so i dint need to cary a mixer aslo.

hey simon, u say ya got a duel core laptop with vista, do u eva have any probs runnin VDJ with ya MK2? im in real diffs :( sed i wud do a party for my m8 2moro nyt, got all this nd its playin up on me! says wen i start up VDJ

you need to wait for your free version to get the vista update and you need to get the vista drivers from hercules website

Sky when I have mine in external mixer mode, I don't lose any control with the MK2. I put the MK2 in external mode all the time so I am trying to figure out what it is you are talkin about.

if you use the crossfader on the mk2 at the same time i mean it can complicate things.

has anyone tried to use the external mixer and stream to shoutcast via virtual dj?
