1. REPAIR your disk permissions (this may or may not be needed, but it doesn't hurt either way so just do it anyway)

Go to: (HD)/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.

Launch Disk Utility, select your primary hard drive with Mac OS on it (start up disk) and click on the "Repair Disk Permissions" button. There's no need to click on the "Verify Disk Permissions" button right above it, just repair them.

2. LOCK your .dmg file.

BEFORE double clicking on the "install_virtualdj_v4.3.dmg" file, right click on it and select GET INFO (or select the disk image, go to FILE, and select GET INFO from drop down menu) and then check the LOCKED box.

Do this before launching the file to prevent any data corruption when opening the disk image. This procedure basically prevents information from being written to the file upon opening it, therefore preventing any problems.

This is generally a good practice when opening any .dmg file in Mac OS. Just a good preventitive measure "just in case".

this may sound like a dumb question... i'm pretty new to mac... but why would you need to do this? i thought OS X was like near perfect, why should i make it a practice to protect my files from being corrupted? i just made the switch from pc to mac and that kinda freaks me out because i have never had such a problem with pc. does os x screw up .dmg files often?

Quest can answer that better for you.

I can tell you, All operating systems are never perfect or near perfect. --- As far as the screw up part, not often. What he is telling you is more of a "tweak" or advice. There is a DJ I know that has used a Mac for a long time, never has done those procedures and is still running better than a PC..And thats with over 11,000 songs on his HD.

Would this fix my WDJ from just mysteriously crashing while playing songs? Doesn't do it often, but just enough to be annoying while mixing!

I bought a MacBook NOT a MacPro three months ago, the only reason I bought the computer is because my friend is a Dj and he told me that Mac's are the best. Before I bought VirtualVinyl I made sure it was compatible with my MacBook. The biggest problem I'm having is the videos would freeze on #2 of the VirtualVinyl, I tryed everything in the book buy notthing worked for me. Now I'm stuck with this software and computer and I can't do what I want to, which is play videos. I'm not working my in school right now with no more money to upgrade my computer to a Macpro, am so disappointed I saved up all the money I could off get and now it's all crashing down on me "WHAT TO DO I NEED HELP"

i just purchased a Mac Pro and hope to use it for dj'ng but i'm not sure which Virtual dj to purchase. i have the PC version with the MK2 Console but when i look on line, it says Mac compatible but when i go to the purchase site it does not ask me weather i want to purchase the Mac or PC version. how can i be sure i download the right one? also, they say that there is an update version for the and the console i have right now, i can use it for my Mac. all i have to do is purchase the software but how do i know which one it is. Do i really need the Console?

Help, i have two gigs coming up and i have to put it all together asap.

Just hang tight for a bit! You have an amazing computer and we'll get you going soon enough. The testing is going on for the new version and you won't be disappointed. If you absolutely need it going asap on your iMac and you don't mind running it with XP, I could give you some advice on how to set up 5.0 r2 with Bootcamp. Thats what I am using until the official 5.0/5.1 release for Mac and it runs very well!

use a program such as app zapper,

there is no default uninstaller on a mac

go to http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/

download it and run the simple setup wizard have your windows cd ready and your good to go :)
