House/trance is great for me and my music friends but it frankly doesn't play to the masses here in the Midwest. Is there anyone doing their part to make Clear Channel music a bit more interesting and pay the bills at the same time?

My current format has been to keep a solid but ever changing back beat going all night long (ala House/Trance) but have no song played over 3 minutes and have every song known by 90% of the club. (top 40 tracks from 1970's through current). It keeps me very busy and the format works well for a guy like me who is riddled with ADD. Keeping things unpredictable and mainstream has been a fun line to walk. The gum popping 24 year olds let you have it when you have crossed the line, making for some fun drunky stories to share.

I'd love to hear what your past and current favorite mixes guaranteed to fill the dance floor.

Here are a few dated fillers that work when you need to fill time at a longer gig. They are pretty easy to mix live so a good start for beginers....

1) Sexyback slowed to 90bpm (and key-changed up) mixed and mashed with Lets get it on by Marvin Gaye - Very Steamy

2) Good Times by Chic mashed with Vanilla Ice

3) Play that Funky Music mashed with Bootylicious

I would love it, if some of the VJer's on this site had a go at knocking up a video mashup of these tracks, it would be good to see.

Where I'm from Mash Ups have become very popular in the past few months. I'm from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA and in our region of the country there's a label called Crooklyn Clan. They have led the charge in mash up music by providing over 100 new mash ups a week for DJs to purchase. They're kind of pricey, but some of the mash ups are really really good!!! They have two web sites where these mash ups can be downloaded from. Prices range from $1.99 to $5.99 per track.
