Esta parte del tópico es antigua y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

ffmpeg is the best however I've not been able to find a decent front end for the windows side, mac users can use visual hub which works great, also there is vegas which can render to anything. I have to point out that that this will become unnecessary once the m4v is added to the internal video decoder. Remember Apple said it would take time to change their tracks over right now itunes plus is the safe way but you are only getting from one label that way.

If you're a Windows user you have the ability to use FFDShow (which is based on FFMpeg) which registers DirectShow plugins so you can use the decoders in any compatible program, this includes Virtual DJ. My favourite reason for using FFMpeg in Virtual DJ is that you can fix the aspect ratio problem, there's also the huge compatibility, e.g. this iTunes problem doesn't exist in FFDShow.

edit: Cyder's ffmpeg suggestion is a better alternative to the QuickTime option I posted about earlier plus cross platform. Here's the syntax:
ffmpeg -i "C:\Users\Andrew\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\Guru Josh Project\Unknown Album\Infinity 2008.m4v" -vcodec copy -acodec copy "Infinity 2008.mp4"

I'm using FFDShow. I use the kLite codec pack. I'd like to try what you are saying Andrew, but its gone completey over my head, can you simplify it a bit for me?

Gary

From the start menu run K-Lite Codec Pack\Configuration\Codec Tweak Tool. Look for the option Disable the following filters and tick MP4 splitter (Haali) if it's there, Virtual DJ has problems with it.

Open Virtual DJ and enter the configuration. Under the codecs tab set the mp4 and m4v codecs to Windows MediaPlayer video decoder. Now when you play your mp4/m4v files in Virtual DJ it will use FFDShow. Look at the taskbar (the system clock) for a red icon which has the letter FF on it, double click on it. Select the Resize & aspect option and make sure it's ticked. Enable the Specify aspect ratio option and change it to either 4:3 or 16:9 depending on the TV you're outputting to.

Any luck with this Gary?

I haven't tried yet mate, i'm gonna give it a go later tonight. Your advice has never failed me so far though, so i'm optimistic :)

I'll let you know how it goes.

Gary

Sorry guys,
if my question is alredy answerd in this thread.
When yes, i can't bring them together.

I use tunebite to convert the iTunes Songs into mp3 (same quality as the orginal) because, only then i can see all column filled in the vdj browser. Especially the bitrate.
Is it possible without using tunebite?
Is this done by also using other codec like in vdj general inside?

Thx for your help

Are your files iTunes Plus (no drm) or normal tracks? If they are iTunes Plus do a search for .m4a in the Virtual DJ search (make sure that Filepath is a search option - the little disc to the right of the box). Sort the results by artist or title until you have all the blank entries towards the top. Select the first blank entry then hold the shift key and click on the last blank entry. Then right click on the selection and under the File Infos menu select Reload tag. Unfortunately Virtual DJ doesn't seem to read the genre properly or fill out bitrate for m4a files but the rest of the tags should be ok.

Hy andrew,
thx for answer but this is not the answer.
Or maybe i take the wrong words. ;-)

The files from iTunes are some from + also the normal. But that is not important, it's on both.
The filea are .m4a and in the files info is a comment "File will be read with General Quick Time decoder"
Do i need a nother codec?

I know how to scan, rescan or something else. ;-)

For example i can scan the track. the field bitrate is empty.
I put the track on the table, also the bitrate is empty (also genre but how cares)

Only if i convert with tunebite to mp3, all information will be in the track incl. my loving bitrate.

If i understand your post wrong, talk to me like a baby. lol.
Maybe it works ;-)

Also it is possible there is no answer, then i must use furthermore tunebite to get the full informations.

Thx for your time.
Haui

There's no need to change the decoder, Virtual DJ only detects the bitrate for MP3 and that figure is only accurate for CBR files.

Thank you Andrew,
now i'm save!
Have a good time

Hi Andrew, I follwed your instructions, but not luck. When I load the iTunes video onto the deck it just says error.

Seeing as i'm not very clued up with this kind of thing, I wondered if I should have iTunes installed on the same OS as VDJ for the videos to work? Currently I do not, i Just transfer them across when I've downloaded them on my other machine.

Any thoughts?

Gary

I am guessing u need I tunes installed but I may be wrong.

No you won't need iTunes. Try loading a video into Windows Media Player and see if that works first. If it does work in WMP but not in Virtual DJ, did you make sure to disable the Haali Splitter? What extra icons load up when you load the song into Virtual DJ?

So let me get this straight, with KLITE and your above settings I can play these vids WITHOUT any further conversion??

Andrew YOU are the man!!! I did what u said with KLITE BUT I left VDJs decoder on Video and MY I TUNES VIDEOS WORK!!!!!!! Thanks again.

There is more than ne Haali splitter I could disbale, shold I disable the others too?

Gary

Ok not so fast, On some it works and on others it doesnt, yes they are all DRM free.

You only need to disable the Haali splitter. Virtual DJ will then use the default MP4 Splitter which K-Lite installs which should work fine. Discobrian, if your Virtual DJ is set to use Video decoder then Virtual DJ will still use its own decoders, it needs to be changed to Windows MediaPlayer video decoder. I don't have many iTunes videos but with what I tested this method worked, if there are videos it does not work with, ffmpeg can be used to losslessly (unlike tunebite) create a compatible copy. I will detail this method if it's needed.

Andrew did you find a non command line front end for ffmpeg that most users can deal with. I haven't found one for pc however visual hub works wonders on the Mac. Btw anyone notice the that itunes plus link is missing from the store but still appears in the powersearch? I still only see 150 emi artists listed.

You guys might think this is not a big deal however considering that most if not all itunes music videos have no watermark title or anything on the video it makes this content highly desirable for VJ like me.
