Does anyone recommend a brand. I have a rack system (about 40" tall and 45" with the lid on) and I have fabricated flat surface for my RMX to sit on top. I want to bring my whole rack as it has my amps, EQ, maximizer and lighting control panel (DMX) installed in it. The cover or panel I want has to be tall, 40" to 48" is what I want. I saw this

http://dragonfrontboards.com/

and I like it but it's more than I want to spend and it looks like a pain to carry around. i want something lite weight and easily transportable.

Please help? thanxs

Agnostic! Funny you should ask such a question! I have a video on YouTube that shows you how to make a nice facade for about $50 USD. In the video the facade wasn't finished and is a little rough, but since then I have perfected it. I have painted the PVC black and tucked the crushed velvet so that it is extremely taut and there are not creased or wrinkled. It looks professional and is very easily assembled and tear-down is very simple.

Here is the video...

Rude! I love it! but I not only don't have time but don't want to even try anything like this! i'm not too mechanical. I'm a scientist not an engineer! lol Can you make me one and I'll pay for it? You are here in Southern California too i see. Let me know what you would charge =)

Hell yes, I'd be more than happy to make you one. You can reach me on the other site since you are a full member there you can see my email address or PM me here.

Depending on the size you want, if you want the PVC painted and the type of material you want (I can do white satin for LED back lighting if you want or the black crushed velvet like in my video). One like mine is 5.25 ft wide x 2.5 deep x 4.25 ft high, painted with a special PVC paint and wrapped with black crushed velvet. I will do it for you for $275. I'm not cheap. But it's great work, well built and 100% portable and very lightweight. It breaks down in less than five minutes! You can build a simple one yourself for around $50 to $100 (the materials for mine were higher because I put more work into it). Since my video I have painted it and added better Velcro and wrapped the velvet tightly so it really looks like I ordered from some manufacturer, it looks that nice!

Let me know.

Here are a couple of images of the newly improved facade. It looks great!

How do I send you a PM? I don't see anywhere that i can do that.

i sent you a message anyway via the other forum email.

I'll take it! $275 is less than I though I would pay anyway. I was going to buy this really cool on made of some kind of supposedly light weight wood (beech i think)but it is bulky and probably weighs more than your and doesn't look nearly as fancy.

How much does your weight total? Have you weighed it yet I should ask? and does it come with a duffelbag that it will all fit in. If not, that would be a good selling point! lol

The pics and video looks awesome and it's what I need and better than what I thought. Check your email messages to see how we can arrange to meet and when, the $ isn't an issue.

Thank you yet again Rudedogg!

Beardugo, you're right here in the same town as me so when you're ready to do yours let me know if you have any questions, I'll help you out if needed. For me it was real simple and fast, which I'm sure it will be for you too if you're mechanically inclined at all.

When finished it will fit into a duffel-bag and probably weights no more than 10 to 15 lbs if that. It takes up very little room when fully broken down and in your transport vehicle.

Lol, I had no intentions of marketing this thing since it's so easy to do, but I've been getting emails and PMs from people on several DJ sites and YouTube who want to pay me to custom make one for them! They either don't have time or don't feel they could properly make their own. OK, good for me I guess! Someone even asked me about the LCD stand in the video and pics. I made that too.

People of VDJ, I may be starting a new business venture, as if I'm not busy enough with my other 3!

Thanks guys!

Nope, already considered them. I like mine better and it was far cheaper.

Thanks anyway!

Ok, I got my custom made facade from dj Rudedogg and it is awesome! It is very simple to put up and take down. Rude perfected the way the material goes around the pvc by only putting the strips on the PVC and none on the material. The kind he used grips the material then you wrap the material around the pipe which gives it a nice tight look! I will post pic when I get my film developed (i know, I still use an old 35 mm). Basically it looks just like rude's but a little smaller. very nice! thanx rude! by the way Mr rude is a cool cat, very nice gentleman, he made the trip here in the OC. I live in Lake Forest, CA.

Hi

What clamps are you using for your light fixture to the speaker pole? Need to get some.

Mensajes Mon 27 Jul 09 @ 8:14 am
Hi Chris, the clamps are American DJ "O-Clamp/1.5 -2". They are 2" clamps that come with a rubber adapter insert that allows it to clamp onto 1.5" poles. My speaker stands are 1.5" at the base but up higher it is 1" or 1 1/4" so I cut a piece of thin rubber floor mat (for cars) and inserted it in with the 1.5 " adapter and it fits nice and snug. The rubber keeps in place tightly.

Rude & Agnostic,

Agnostic says, "Rude perfected the way the material goes around the pvc by only putting the strips on the PVC and none on the material. "
Does this mean that the backing of the crushed velvet adheres to the hooks on the velcro?
