Tópico: error in bpm scan - Page: 1

Esta parte del tópico es antigua y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

as some of you are aware ibegan scanning my colection a couple of days ago. however, today i got and error message and the scan stopped.

is there anyway to continue the scan from where it left off. the error i believe was caused by me playing around with the config.

major issue is though its taken 2 days to get to the letter C in my collection. and i dont really want to loose 2 days of scanning time or have to scan each folder seperatley.

any help will be appreciated. thanks.

The scan should have saved the BPM's for the tracks it had completed.

Enter * in the search bar and it will list all the tracks in the DB. Sort by BPM then scroll down to the blank ones, select them all using the shift key then start the scan again on those files only.

Keith has the right idea but that doesn't always work. Most of the time when I download my tracks the BPM is in the ID3 which will show up in VDJ thus makin it look like it was scanned when it wasn't. Soyou should make a filter folder that will show all un scanned tracks. Here's the script,

isscanned=0

You can create a Filter Folder
Name : Unscanned
Filter : isscanned=0

This folder will show you always the files that have not yet been scanned. So you can choose them all, or part of them and scan them anytime you want.

Funnily enough, that's what my wife tells me all the time :)

keith, your idea doesnt work. :( it only lets me do one folder at a time. i need to continue scanning my entire hdd, discogs, collections, folders included.

its looking like im going to have to set it away from the beginning again and just hope it completes this time.

BLU, did you not see the filter folders??? You wont have to go folder by folder with the filter folder..........

Good Luck

No, it will be useless. It will stop scanning at the same point again probably, and it will not help you spot the bad files. Use the Filter Folder solution above.

Sometimes i feel like Huey's echo..lol

Lmao!!!

sorted

heres what i did

created a new folder on my hdd called zzzzzzzzzzzscanned so it goes dead last in the list.

rescanned the folder that gave out the error. which scanned ok.

cut all the folders, discogs etc that had already been scanned and put them in the zzzzzzzzzzzzzscanned folder.

then started the scan again on the drive.

so now its scanning happily.

once it gest to my zz top folder ill stop the scan and scan that folder on its own to complete the job. then drop everything else back into the main drive folder where it belongs.

or you just could of listened to djdad and beatbreaker1 in the first place. Filter folders save time and confusion.

Your database must be set up incorrectly. If you enter * in the search bar it will list all songs in the entire DB and not just one folder.

Have you actually added all your folders on the PC to the DB or are you scanning the folder locations instead?

Keith

probably the entire collection isnt in the database.

ill add it now.

would i be right in thinking that the already scanned tracks were automatically added to the database?

if so im adding the rest now.

if they were scanned, they will be in the data base until you remove them.

they werent scanned but i know now where i was going wrong, thanks guys.

Can you tell us what you were doing wrong, might be of help to the next guy and are you using that FILTER FOLDER?

Huey

well for starters i hadnt added my collection to the database. and thats it really, the suggestion about putting * in the search field did absolutley nothing. all it listed after adding my collection to the database was those tracks that werent organised into folders.

so everything that was stored in a folder wasnt listed. it was just the floating tracks that are unsorted and sotred directly onto the hdd.

ive still had to go moving files into a seperate folder to get the scan completed.

there should be some sort of "scan from point" option. so if youre scan gets interupted, you can have the option to continue the scan from where it left off.

ive not bothered with a proper filter folder as i had already decided to move the scanned items into another folder that id created.

Bro your makin this alot more difficult then it has to be. You "Scan from this point option " would be your "Filter Folder" lol!!

Well Good Luck
