So today I went and hooked up my EV 115's and 118's in our church sanctuary just to get an idea of the sound in a large dome building. After a few minutes we hooked up one of our DBX's and did some EQ Wizards on them. IMMEDIATELY the sound was 100% different. The EQ wizard took too much bottom end out so we went back in and added it back. The sound was amazing, clear, and bright with a very nice bottom end.
Needless to say the first thing I done when getting home this evening is look for a dbx. I found it and its being ordered. These things are really nice if you have never used one. Set the Measurement Mic up, hit process and watch it go. Then go back and do a little tweaking here and there. The nice thing is that you can save the EQ settings and call them back up. The other great thing is if you want to run at a certain level always +5/-5db etc. then set it that way. Then you don't have to worry about the mixer constantly keeping the right volume.
@ Clientelle, per our last discussion. Using the DBX and using the Tops in full range going to the DBX and subs going into DBX seperately these things are amazing. I thought they were good before and any flat spots that WERE there are long gone.

The EV's alone dont have any processing. Its just straight up raw sound from the amp to the drivers. A seperate eq will make them sound better. Thats why i ended up getting the Jbls because They have a DBX processor and DSP.

Stuff ext eqing those days are gone for me, the new amp with a digital interface are bad enough.
