hey guys
i have virutal dj
and i love it
however its just missing
something. and that something
is an external play source.
e.g a mixer. how can i setup my
virtual dj to run with an external
mixer (e.g) wiht the sounds and
stuff being controller by the EQs
and CROSSFADER
that was possible wiht virtual dj
wasnt it? i just need to know how
to hook it up!!

Yes you can.
You need to connect your external source to the line-in input of your sound card.
Then, you can mix and display this input in VDJ. Look in the file explorer of VDJ, you can find "Sound Card". Clic on it and drag the driver you want (displayed in the right) on a deck.
That's all :)

the4 thing is.
i dont want to use turntables
i just want to control the mix
via an external mixer, rather then

That's right, with 2 sound cards (differents one avoid compatibilities problem) or one 3D card (4.1 or 5.1) you can set (in Audio setup) mixer or headphone configuration.
With mixer configuration, each deck of VDJ will output through a different sound card output (front and rear).
So you just have to plug these two output to different input of your external mixer, like you could do with a dual cd player.

Check out name brands like American Audio, or Numark. I've had very good luck with their products over the years. I've had several Gemini products as well, but wasn't very happy with the quality.

There is no "too advanced" Get what you can afford.
The bpm counter on a mixer will attempt to count a beat from whatever input source you have plugged it. I Have a Numark 1835X with an onboard counter. It does a fine job counting the BPM. However, it's kind of a waste, since VDJ counts it's own beats.
