Just enabled early access to have a play with this discogs thing. You really can't rely on it at all. Done a few and all wrong. For Instance....Nat King Cole - When I Fall In Love - it came up with Year:1972 and Genre:Vocal. Should Be Year:1956 and Genre:Jazz (genre open for debate)
The whole thing is a great idea, I mean a brilliant Idea. But it needs to work. If i google the song, and even if i spell it a little wrong, make a mistake. Google will still know exactly what song I am on about and give me the information (most of the time). Why can VDJ not take the info from Freedb or partner with some other music metadata company so the info is right?

Discogs is quite reliable. The problem is when a song is featured on more than one release.
In this case the Greates Hit album came up first, which is from 1972:
https://www.discogs.com/search/?q=Nat+King+Cole+When+I+Fall+In+Love&type=master
I checked if freedb was any better, but the first album result there was Nat King Cole: Let There Be Love from 2004.
Sorting by year discogs appears to find the correct result though, perhaps that would be better, but has to be tested for the case of no exact results or slight variations in spelling.

I have some gratitude, concerns/bugs, comments, questions.
First i want to SAY A VERY VERY VERY THANK YOU!. I cant belive there are so many people are complaining. for all those people who are complaining you DONT USE IT!!
for all the people have been begging for this [me included] I presume the majority are grateful even tho it may not be perfect , im pretty sure it could only get better, so people please be patient and grateful for VDJ bringing this amazing feature to the software. being that this is a new addition bugs are a given, and will be hopefully resolved with time, below are some i have found and recommendations to make it better.
concerns/bugs
It does seem to have some bugs which im am not sure if VDJ is aware of yet.
1 of them being that if there is a spotify track playing in my right deck and i try to load another spotify track into my left deck while the first one is playing/loading, the left deck will not play any thing at all, it will show that its playing but will have no sound or wave form.
at first i thought it was because of the whole 1.5x download stream limit, but i decided to cancel the stream on the right deck by playing my own library song and the left deck would still not have any sound or wave form from spotify even though it timer is playing
.
Ironically if were to then load the same track that it is not working on the left deck to the right deck, the right deck will start playing , then all of a sudden the left deck wave form will then start to appear, but will still not play because its already so far ahead of the cached wave form.
The other bug i got was while spotify was playing i clicked on filters and it crashed the entire program.
comments/questions
--in regards to the 1.5x max cache speed. is this collectively for all songs that are streaming or is this on a song by song basis? For example if the left deck , right deck, pre listen are playing at the same time is that 1.5x for each of the 3 streams independently or is the 1.5x stream divided by 3 making .5x per stream ,resulting in a buffer underun . it seems to be the latter which would explain the bug i mentioned above.
another question/issue is:
When i loaded a spotify song to my side list it started pre scanning the songs for bpm info, i presume that would mean its caching it BUT, when i loading that song to a deck it is not cached, and it seems that prescan in the sidelist is cutting my download stream to .75x rendering it unusable because stream is not fast enough to buffer and play.

one of the best things I love about spotify is that it has its kind of own "genius dj" its not called genius dj, but is instead call song radio. where you can right click a song you like and create a whole radio station [aka playlist] based on the style of that selected song just like the vdj genius dj does. Would there be a away to incorporate that in VDJ as well as including your, saved songs, artists your following , radio stations you've created, your daily mixes, . or in other words all or most of the tabs that are in spotify[see pics]
The reason i say this is because the strong demand for spotify integration is primarily driven be these features which set apart spotify from any other streaming software, these features mentioned above are very very powerful for creating amazing playlists ON THE FLY with out pre editing. for example you could have just created a song radio from a song in a mood playlist, and then all of a sudden you hear an amazing song play, and then create another song radio based of that , and keep doing this over an over, next thing you know you are now down a deep AMAZING musical rabbit hole, PLAYING AMAZING TRACKS THAT ARE SEEMLESS TO ONE ANOTHER IN STYLE. . .This feature is invaluable and would be AMAZING and could litteraly change the game of DJing. Iknow you guys have genius dj, which is similar, but spotify is much more powerful, because genius dj is based on plays from other djs [aka same popular crap over and over], while spotify song radio pulls from God knows where???? but does so amazingly!!! There has to be a way that it could be ported thru the spotify API, i presume there is more access thru the API then just playlists :] or maybe you could even load a miniature version of spotify [like the mobile version] into a tab of virtual dj, which would then make all these highly sought after features easy to access. I attached pics of some of these features im referring to.
WHAT EVER YOU GUYS DO THO, PLEASE DO NOT GIVE UP ON THE SPOTIFY INTEGRATION! Even if it cost more, it will set VDJ apart from anything else on the market, presuming you guys can integrate the spotify features i mentioned above . VDJ8 is already better than traktor or serato [yes i said that!!!!!] and algoriddim is a joke. So please do not give up on this!!!!!!!!!
oh by the way while im ranting PLEASE ad dedicated effects and eq to the mic input . I know you could do it thru a line but if you could do it thru a line then there is no reason you cant do it for a mic [from a software perspective]
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GUYS. AND PLEASE DO NOT DROP THIS FEATURE EVEN IF IT MAKES NO FURTHER ADVANCEMENT. a limited working spotify integration is better than no spotify integration at all, again thanks guys , sorry for my long post it just expresses how much i have been wanting this feature(s)

deezer is working many thanks.

Deezer is indeed loading, and it loads fast.
Only thing is VDJ resetting sometimes.

Big Up Atomix Staff!, Love the spotify, love the deezer, love the discogs (although a batch year finder would be just as good too :) ), love the duplicates filter, love the wave detail in bpm editor, I've no idea what 'blink' is or what '&' means but thanks anyway. all round a great update - thank You

Played a bit with deezer plugin. Very nice and it shows a bit the possibilities you can have. Very very good.
But VDJ resets a few times when playing. Do you get a crashreport?

The crash seems to be related to the experimentalBpmAnalyzer

Thanks for your fast help, Adion. Put experimentalBPmAnalyzer off, and now it works like a charm. Thanks for this plugin! It is very nice work and certainly an advantage.

Discogs is quite reliable.
I've just been going through some of my tracks that have no genre or year, and it seems to work well (as long as the names match).
However, going through tracks one by one is very time consuming. I tried highlighting more than one track, but then the Discogs option is not there.
It would be far more useful if tracks could be looked up en masse.

We want to make sure it works well before making it available for batch operations.

I hope the Spotify/deezer plugin will come to Advanced home users too. For the moment, it is'nt selectable.
Mensajes Sun 05 Mar 17 @ 6:29 pm
currently only for Pro Users avaliable ... sorry

this is awesome!!!! TY atomix!

Ignore the complaints, for Spotify v1.0 this is a GREAT start, even if there's no further development.
I won't need it often but when I do need it, it's perfect for me for now!

Spotify is a good start, but the fact that it takes ages to load, then deck 2 won't load if it's still loading a spotify track in deck 1. It's great to hear new songs and try them out before purchasing, and for one off requests that you haven't got, but that's all at the moment. What's this new Discogs thing??
Mensajes Mon 06 Mar 17 @ 12:12 pm
Discogs - thought I'd found it - clicked the little dot near the filename in Tag Editor and there was an option to fill in missing info from Discogs. BUT - that option was only there for one song. I tried another 10 songs by lots of different artists and there was no option? Am I doing something wrong?
Mensajes Mon 06 Mar 17 @ 12:26 pm
In most cases you have to click the "rename as artist and title" before the option then comes up
Mensajes Mon 06 Mar 17 @ 12:30 pm
Read further up this thread. Batch implementation is not in place yet.

I wasn't looking to batch, was selecting songs one by one. Will look at the rename thing first, but they are already renamed as artist - title..

Although it seems that the option isn't there if your field are filled in anyway, only if there are actually missing fields that discogs has info for?
