Is it possible to map the Master Volume in VDJ 8 Software to the Master Volume Knob on the controller? Pioneer DDJ1000 and DDJ SX2? Would like them to be in sync hardware and software. Many thanks for any help.

It it was not mapped like this in the factory default mapping, then it is likely because these knobs are hardware-only, and don't send their position to the software.

For the DDJ-SX2 : http://www.virtualdj.com/manuals/hardware/pioneer/ddjsx2/layout/mixer.html
Nr.11 "MASTER VOLUME. Adjust the level of the Master Output. Hardware operation, not visible on the VirtualDJ GUI."
In this case, the Master Volume knob doesn't send any MIDI, so cannot be mapped to any VDJ script action.
For the DDJ-1000 http://www.virtualdj.com/manuals/hardware/pioneer/ddj1000/layout/mixer.html
Nr.12 " MASTER VOLUME. Adjust the level of the Master Output. Hardware operation but movement visible on the VirtualDJ GUI"
In this case, moving the Master Volume knob on the DDJ-1000 should also move the Master Volume knob on the GUI of VirtualDJ, but not vice verca. It is indeed a Hardware operation, meaning that the knob itself (and not the software) adjusts the Master Volume, but its also capable to send Midi, so its mapped as a "fake" Master Volume control. However, it makes no sense to map it to anything else other than this.
