Personally, I like the audio sample and think it should not only play the VirtualDJ drop but also give a 30 second shutdown warning using the ED-209 voice and count exactly like ED-208 - badly.
30, 29, 15, 12, 3, 2, 27....

But seriously - so many have been cheating their way around or ignoring the EULA (and anyone want to take a guess at how loud they're screaming now?) and we've seen this and other measures discussed before to get people to be honest and now some are okay with it and a bunch are so very not okay.
Is it an ideal solution? well, ideally they'd buy a license, not break the EULA, and eventually buy a license and never have to worry about it again.
but we don't live in an ideal world do we?

Yes we did, and for now old PLUS licenses will not have the audio drop even if no controller plugged.Hopefully VDJ will reconsider and find a better solution for longtime licensed users.

That's a respectable move - the Home Plus licence is now legacy, so new persons can't buy it (stops that bleeding), but is still respected fully for people who bought it.

I will say, I'm more than a little pissed with the new update, which I should've declined. And it's all because of this audio stamp, after all, my only experience so far with it is being woken up out of my sleep by 'VIRTUAL DJ' being yelled into my ears. 10 minutes ago.
I use VDJ for purely personal use, and have for years. And I've had nothing but praises to sing for so long, and while I've been using it for free, I would've been more than happy to pay, but I had no need for all the extra stuff, as I use it as a music player I get to mess around with (I like to reverse, chop and screw, mix tracks, stems, renaming files, and all the other elementary stuff, but most importantly all my custom hotkeys). Spotify is irritating at best half the time, and this is the music player I've gotten used to and enjoyed.
Now I somewhat understand the reasoning behind implementing it, but I'm not in the industry at all, so a good bit of it goes over my head. However, I understand, you gotta make that bag, but my issue comes in when the options for purchase are all subscriptions, or $300!
I just wanna listen to my music man, the same way I have been for years. I don't need all the extra shit, and it feels bad when you make a major change to the main point of the software, the audio. I don't wanna be sleeping and listening to a rain track, and some slowed down music, and hear some bass boosted 'VIRTUAL DJ!!!' randomly jarring me out of my sleep. I also don't know if I wanna hear that if I'm in my feelings listening to some sad music.
I don't know, this is probably half-coherent and rambly, but I was woken up 15 minutes after that shit. So I know I'm unreasonably angry right now. Part of me just wants to fork out the 300 and be done with it, but I don't want to, because that's expensive as crap. Literally, all I'm paying for is the removal of an audio stamp. For 300 dollars. I hope that doesn't sound insane to just me?

Alright, I ended up rolling back due to system images. Will not be updating. But do please consider things like this in the future. Going back to sleep.

Tbh (not trying to be mean but) VirtualDJ was never meant to be a personal jukebox (there are other applications for that), it was mean to be professional DJ software.
For any DJ that actually works, subscription is pretty standard across the board, and being able to buy it at a 1 time fee is quickly disappearing (Atomix is one of the only companies still doing it). $300 is pretty much covered by 1 gig in most cases, and for what you get for it (at this time, lifetime updates and latest features), that is one of the sweetest deals still around for the industry.

I bought Virtual DJ Broadcaster way back in 2015, for a one time fee and then used it with SecondLife VIrtual Clubs for my Djing Gigs.
Paying for a subscription is not really possible for me as on Fixed Income, so kinda sad version 2026 had to do make this major change and all, but guess it was bound to happen sometime.
Will find another program for my SecondLife sets, and go from there its looking like

Why do you need another program? Is it really that terrible to have the name of the software announced during your streams? The VDJ logo has been displayed on the video output in the same way for a long time.

It is rather ironic that several individuals in this discussion, who were previously quite dismissive or even rude toward newcomers for asking elementary questions, have now revealed themselves not to be pro users. Furthermore, they are openly complaining about having to purchase the pro version. The irony is almost too perfect.
