ASUS had a critical flaw in their ACPI firmware for a long period of time for that model of laptop:

Although that article claimed it fixed in newer versions of the laptop, it is recommended to check for updates in firmware/drivers, in addition to following the other steps of the PC optimize Wiki:

there's a setting for load priority will reduce the amount of performance needed to load a track that might help
