I have heard that atomix can be used to broadcast live via the net.....anyone have a answer for this?

Yes, Spice. That's the way I sometimes broadcast--right from Atomix.
The only way I'm familiar with is to download the Shoutcast Plug-in for Winamp. It's a free download available at
http://www.shoutcast.com/downloads/shoutcast-dsp-1-8-2b-windows.exe
Once you have the plugin, go to the "RECORD" section of Atomix and click, "Start Recording". On the pop-up window you'll get, change the File Type selector to ".dll", then browse to C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins folder (assuming you already installed Winamp previously). Look for the .dll file "dsp_sc.dll". Click to open it.
Now it's just a matter of putting all the setting into the shoutcast plugin fields. The setting would depend on what site you're broadcasting on, and the settings they specify.
Good luck...hope this helps!
