what's up with this? I downloaded the trial version onto my desktop and it loaded about 24 different icons. 2 VDJ trial icons, and a whole lot of other stuff. I know what some of it is but...DAMN!!! how do I clean all this up and still make vdj work?

what did you do, if you recognise some of it it wont have been put there by the VDJ installer will it lol. dont know aht youve done but just save it somewhere else incase its improtant to clear up your desktop lol. how strange

Hey Xeo, All the icons are for vdj but...DAMN.... 24 icons? The installer can't put everything in a folder? Is it all needed? How do I clean it all up? where do I put it all? Do I have to leave anything out on the desktop for the program to work right?

just delete all the icons that you dont want or put them into a folder. they will still work perfectly as they are only links.
by the sound of it somthing must have gone wrong in the install because there is only ment to be six (and there in the start menu). theres only ment to be 3 on the desktop. virtualdj, ripvinyl & ripdvd

Haven't you chosen another directory to install VDJ as the default one is c:program files ?

I put all the Icons in a folder xcept for the dvj icon. I tried to open vdj and got an error message
"Invalid skin file (error line % in the xml)"

you installed the program to your desktop.
first uninstall using the shortcut.
then reinstall and choose 'c:/program files/virtualdj' as the install directory and allshould be good

Probably you installed it to c:\\Documents and settings\\djcity\\desktop instead of Program Files ????
Or as usually something got screwed up in those WindBlows :-(

Ok, now at least you know that it's here only one great community but the communication is spread over the several subforums to have some sense. Problems are in problems/support forums and whoever has problem or sees somebody having a problem he can help with will use it.
