I'm OK now. My meds just kicked in.

I was thinking of getting this when I get my uni loan with the T2500 Intel Core Duo 2Ghz CPU and a 100GB harddrive. It has a very similar specification to the top MacBook Pro (although the screen is 3" smaller, but this means more portable - the CPU is 160mhz slower) and works out at about £1,125 rather than £1,900 - I know which I would rather get.

Looks good. I had a Voyager in 1999 and I wasn't too pleased with it, but Evesham have a good name in general, so that shouldn't put you off.
For my own part, I would probably go for a rack mount computer now, like one of these from http://www.inta-audio.com/script/pricelist.php

I guess you don't do a lot of club gigs.

Technology is updating so quick soon we'll have a real VirtualDj something outta the Star Trek holodeck
then what will happen to us? lol guess we'll be the instructors then. but will the holographic Dj's use
Pc or Mac? or will they be having the same discussion as we are over it? who cares it's all about the music.

The macbook pro will be awesome with vdj, it has the specs you need if your going for video mixing, besides the fact its reliable and a popular choice in the professional scene. I would never bother with a rackmount pc cos you never know what sort of space you will be allocated if your mobile.

Hi You guessed right. I do mostly weddings, functions, pubs, etc. so typical uk mobile DJ. I have been asked loads of times to do clubs over the years, but the money wasn't good enough and the hours were too long. Wish I was a superstar, but I'm just an average mobile jock. If I did clubs I'd probably still be on vinyl, maybe with TCV.
A rackmount will be fine for me because it will go in a rack case. Space isn't an issue for me, but of course in a club booth that's a different situation.
@I-rids ;-) It's simple. If a venue doesn't give me the space for my rig, I don't do the gig - but I still want paying! - Never had any trouble with that. People generally want to help the DJ to give them a good show. Plus which a rackmount system still takes up less space than I used to take with 2 Decks.
If I did clubs, though I would have to think completely different and make the choice between Mac and PC, balancing up the pros and cons of the two. Fascinating. Don't know what way I would go then.
