Hey,

Today I was rather bored so I thought I'd set up a website, to host and broadcast my webcasts though. So here it is:

I was wondering if you guys, and girls, could check it out and tell me if there is any improvements that can be made. Please bear in mind that it is still under construction (i've got one page left to add, but i'm unsure what content should go in it).

There's also a link to a cool page i found which makes me smile everytime i see it so hopefully it'll make youu smile too :o)

It hasnt cost me a penny to set up, as its hosted on my home machine and i built all the code myself, through my own knowledge, or through internet help sites, so if anyone needs some help setting up a site, just send me a line and I'll be happy to help :o)

Anyhoo, any one else got any sites of their own?

Take care and be safe people!

The font is hard to read because of the background but it's pretty cool that you're running it from your home PC. I used to do this (apache, php, mysql) but paid hosting is so much more convenient.

You may be interested in setting up php and mysql on your machine, there are some pretty impressive content management systems out there.

Consider using larger white fonts since you don't have much text displayed on the home page. Relocate your image maps. Try to hide your counter or make it less noticeable. Also consider adding a link that displays the feedback field when it is clicked. However, your site is progressing nicely.

The changes have improved the appearance of your site. However, consider these additional suggestions:

Remove the moving cube because the image maps link to the same pages.

Center the words “Welcome to my site” above the animation display area or below it and use a larger font. Use a font that will make the words “Welcome to my site” the same width as the animation display area.

Move the simleygram image map above the other image maps to create a pyramid shape. Place the text link for the simleygram below the image.

Although the counter is for your reference, consider starting it at 1,000 or higher so it can give visitors the appearance that a lot of people have visited your site. With a lot of hits displayed, people will feel your site is very interesting. Think about it; if a thread has 1,000 views, you would read it before a thread that has only 100 views.

yeah i'll implement those changes tomorrow. thanks a lot!

refering to what you said about the counter, this was a concept we studied in psychology. Shops, and fair grounds (and expecially nightclubs) hold clients at the door, because it makes people think that it is much better inside if people are willing to queue, compaired to if there was no queue, when people would think it's a crap shop/fair ground or nightclub :o) I'll bang that up tomorrow too i think :)

Thanks again

Nebula if you're interest contact me, it's simple to set up phpbb and it's free too. If I don't reply straight away I'm not ignoring you, I tend to leave my PC on all day when I'm not always there - curse this stupidly fast broadband age which we live in hehe.
