Greetings,
I am either brain dead or just not grasping the midi concept. I have been trying to get an Evolution X-Session controller working for Video mixing with VDJ for a few weeks now.
Is anybody willing to share their Evolution X-Session setup file? I would then have more time for my family and less time pulling out my hair! Argh!
Thanks,
Larry

What exactly are you having problems with setting up?
I use my X-session for mixing video, maybe I can help.

I also am using it. There is a mapper available to download or you can easily make your own.

Thanks to both of you for responding.
Okay, I select
- Config
- Remote Control tab
- Select the Midi / enable box (the light next to it goes green)
- Select Midi /Config button
On the Midi Config window
- Add...
- Video
- Video_Crossfade
- the comment box says to "Move the video crossfader..."
- I move the fader on the X-Session and CTRL 10 displays in the window, Select OK
- Save the config (with only htis 1 item) as X-Session.xml
- Exit the config menu.
The fader does nothing with the Video skin
I must be missing something and this has to be simple.
Any ideas?
Thanks for responding

Oh... Here is what is in the X-Session.xml file
<midi version="4" date="14/11/2006">
<ctrl ctrl="10" action="video_crossfade" />
</midi>

I have had success with these button settings
- <midi version="4" date="14/11/2006">
<ctrl ctrl="10" action="video_crossfade" />
<ctrl ctrl="23" action="master_volume" />
<ctrl ctrl="10" action="crossfader" />
<ctrl ctrl="15" action="pause_stop" chan="1" />
<ctrl ctrl="87" action="play_pause" chan="1" />
<ctrl ctrl="86" action="pause_stop" chan="2" />
<ctrl ctrl="89" action="play_pause" chan="2" />
</midi>
SO after setting the crossfader on the mixer I realized that the video Linked Crossfaders box was checked. Apparently, without setting the mixer crossfader also, the video would not work.
So now I unlinked the vider to the crossfader and removed the crossfader from the xml file, and the video fader works fine.
Thank you. If I didn't have to explain I wouldn't have figured it out ( hope that makes sense).
Okay, I'm happy again!

Sometime just talking it out helps.
Just holler if you need any other help.
Sounds like you are on the right track.
BTW, if you want to use the 0-9 buttons, might want to read this post -
http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/55358/General_Discussion/Updated_Nuo4_and_xsession_shortcut_xml_files_(downloads_page).html
Specifically the input that talks about changing the buttons from CC to notes.
(It's also on page 10 of the Advance Guide found on the CD)
press button 0 then assign then type 147 then press program twice and type 000
press button 1 then assign then type 147 then press program twice and type 001
press button 2 then assign then type 147 then press program twice and type 002
...
press button 9 then assign then type 147 then press program twice and type 009

Thank you cstoll.
I believe that I'm on my way now. I will read up on the 0-9 configuration.
Oh, yeah. Life is good!
