Tema: VIDEO CARD RANKING LIST FOR VIDEO MIXING - Page: 1

Esta parte del tópico es antigua y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

NB! This tread is VERY old.. so the card list in beginning of tread is old cards and not updated..
* a note on top since someone bumped this tread many years later ;)

Video mixing in VDJ has two modes:
- None accelerated video : This needs a far less powerfull video card, but will consume more CPU and will NOT show video effects or transitions effects in "3d" or how its intended to show.
- Accelerated mode : VDJ uses the video cards built in powers to render effects and transitions. It will consume less CPU

Outdated
(these cards support have very week or no video mixing support and will most likely NOT work with VDJ hardware accelerated mixing thats needed for 3d effects use. These cards will most likely not be able to export the videomix to external monitor either )

(these cards might be considered weak, but some might work with hardware accelerated mode. If exported to external monitor, they might be too weak to run both video and effects without struggle, or not work at all. For internak mixing on PC they might work fine)

Mid-Range
(these cards were/could've been considered top-end a few years ago, and are fairly powerful, and and most of them have no problem mixing with hardware accelerated mode internally. Some might not work at best level on external output, while some, like X1600 or 6800 or X800 should be doing ok. Video effect use with several effects activated similatiously might render slow on these cards, while regular video mixing, and single effect use can work good)

(these cards are outrageous; they are rather expensive, but insanely powerful. all of them are powerful enough to run the full eye candy setting, with effective render of simultanious effects on the video, and no glitches when skipping fast forward or backwards in the video)

CORRECTION INPUTS OR UPDATE INPUTS FROM ALL YOU VIDEO MIXERS

Please use the following format for inputs/updates/corrections, and PLEASE keep the thread clean for informative and helpfull use for what cards work and dont work with Video mixing :

Name/model of the card:

Laptop or desktop :

Performance with videomixing internally, harware acceleration on, effects in use :

Performance with videomixing on external monitor/screen, hardware acceleration on, effects in use:

Please keep feedbacks short, clean, AND TEST EXTENSTIVLY before giving a feedback

Thanx ;)

Gimme some nVidia 8800 (768MB of VRam?!!!) or ATI 850 action... in a notebook!

CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT!!!

The ATI Mobility Radeon x1600 (128MB) in my MacBook Pro works fine. =)

That should fool him... hehe ;)

7300 LE

For desktops.

Have 128mb shared memory as standard.

PCI Express card.

Might work ok for internal mixer, but not too good on external use.

As its PCI-E, I'd place it at low end.

yes sticky!

sticky would definitly be nice for technologically impaired to go back to for reference!

so i gather i should make them shell out the big bucks for a monstrously insane graphics card?... the good thing about where i work - they buy and supply EVERYTHING! and if i really need it all i have to do is ask.
seriously tho - i would like to do more with the video and get the most out of the software features. any recommendations on the soundcard would be cool too. or would that be another thread?

Laptop: Dell Inspiron 5150 (3.2 HT 1.25GB Ram)
Video Card: GeForce 5200go 64MB Dedicated
Hardware Acceleration: Yes, No problems
Performs; Brilliantly! Video, Transitions smooth as silk, Camera pans, very slightly stuttered, but almost un-noticable! When main laptop screen is bogged down with 3 or more video preview windows, video out to club stays smooth. (this was gained after installing a 64MB card vs a 32MB card, it was not so smooth, moreso when main DJ screen, or PC was busy)

Downsides: Slightly jittery on videos with long smooth camera pans (this is way rare!) Really busy Sonique plugins can slow folder recursing, rather badly, from 4 seconds with no sonique, to 2 minutes with the worst plugin i found (Thads). This could be from CPU loading though.

Recomended?: Yes, Its cheap, and great for video, runs sonique happlily providing you don't recurse at the wrong time!
(If this happens, just turn the sonique pugin off for a moment, then reactivate, no one will notice!)
