Can all the DJs using laptops please recommend quality 2 channel stereo external sound cards that work well with laptops (Dell)?
I bought the M Audio Fast Track Pro USB sound card. Tried for hours to install the drvers onto my brand new Dell Laptop..... I spent another 2 hours with M Audio support trying to set it up. They could not help me get the laptop to recoginze the drivers..... I could not believe it was this difficult to get an external sound card to work. I installed the M Audio on my destop at home and sure enough, although I could not get it to work, VDJ recognized the ASIO drivers.
My Dell Laptop 1505 is brand new, XP pro, dual core, 2 G ram, and is only used with VDJ. I have 3 unused USB ports and no IRC conflicts..... I have read a few reviews of the M Audio where people stated it was difficult to set up....
I just ordered a GIGAPORT AG....
What external sound cards work the best with laptops???
Any and all comments are appreciated. Thanks...

one of the most popular is the
Hercules DJ Console MK2
look at the "show us your gear" topic
midi controller designed for vdj,
4.1 sound card.
compatible with timecodes tccd or tcv
microphone input
only problem is that the tech support of Hercules are "profoundly retarted" notice the quotes
oh yea, there is some kind of issue with the increasing hissing sound. not so sure yet how to solve it.

I am running Echo Indigo DJ and E-MU 1616M. Another popular external soundcard is Motu Ultralite. Check out this website for a list of much more: http://www.audiomidi.com/master.cfm?CID=103
