Hey guys;
I apologize but this seems like the right thread to ask this in. I am about to do my own testing with VDJ and Vista but wanted some insight to the DAC 3 usage. I think I'm asking a dumb question as it's really just a USB device with no driver..... however, should I expect any problems with the DAC-3 in Vista or is it smooth sailing as usual.
As well..... based on reading this thread I am assuming that the latest version of VDJ works properly as software alone in VISTA. Is this a fair statement?
Thanks again.

Yeah, i read the reply from the staff members from VDJ, thanks for the explanation, I guess i will have to wait for the next update, and i guess hercules will release a new version of the drivers that might solve the issue with my laptop. I also think the culprit might be my dell laptop. Since my xps has the internal sound card, then the bluetooth audio, and the internal web cam. when i install the hercules i think vista cannot reroute the audio correctly. I had the same issue when i tried vdj on xp, but on the audio settings on the webcam i will just have it remember to always use the internal sound card and mic, not the hercules sound card and mic input. Then i could use vdj without a hitch for as long as my heart wanted. Now in vista even though i try that, it doesnt work and i get the direct x error that i had with xp. So for me i guess is just a wait and see for either hercules to release updated vista drivers ver 2. or spend time trying to force vista to make my web cam always use by default the internal sound card and mic.
Thank you all for the help!

In theory the DAC-3 should work in Vista because it's just a USB device and needs no special drivers. I currently don't know whether my DAC-3 mapper works in Vista or not (I do not own this operating system.)

I use a simple principle. Never, NEVER buy a microsoft product within 6 months of its release. Microsoft is known for delivering software that's only "just done". (Example: XP) Another important example on vista itself: the first patch was given out before sale started worldwide.
I have no doubt that vista is still full of glitches and i would personally not go to vista for VDJ. I just don't trust it enough. Of course it's funny once on a party: talk to the microphone saying "Yup, Vista crashed.", but just not twice - 3 times in one evening.
I haven't had a single problem with XP, so why the hell would i go to Vista? It just takes up more system resources. I'm going to use XP for as long as possible and after that i think i'll go mac or push VDJ to make a Linux ver :P

I still can't use my controller Mk 2, because it still asks to plug it into the newly bought laptop. On my computer it works perfectly fine, but not on the laptop, but it does detect it, only not on the regular way.
Anybody have a new update on this ?

Just an update for everyone...
Vista is fine.... Dac 3 is fine. I haven't had any problems as of yet. Again... just to answer the question of why VISTA is simple. My customers are purchasing pre-built machines that are already pre-installed with VISTA. Therefore they want to use it. I would prefer XP Pro as much as the next guy for obvious reasons. However, I am happy to be getting the early experience with VISTA as we all know eventually we won't have the choice.
Anyways... the only thing I'm waiting for now is the new driver for the external ESI card. they seem to be a bit slow to react. They claim it's out but we all know how that works. ;-)
Thanks again everyone.

Well, i posted this on another thread, but the VDJ team came out with a workaround for the mk2 and vdj pro 4.2, and i have been happily mixing along after that.
Remember to set the ASIO on the hercules set up and your good to go!!!
Mix along guys!! mix along!!

u know i was watching Future Weapons on the discovery channel a few days ago. Over 20 years ago they produced a billion dollar battleship that can detect and destroy any kind of projectile aimed at it from over 500 miles away...it blows my mind that here we are in the year 2007 and this multi-billion dollar company microsoft, can't even produce a well working product on it's first release??? what the hell? can u imagine if microsoft designed weapons for our armed forces? we'd be F***ed!!!

Actually - most weapons systems work on a more relaiable OS.
