I rarely show video at the club, but have slid show running all night. I was hoping to be able to use a vcr and show say ESPN while having a messege at the bottom of the screen. I am still waiting for a video plug in for running a full motion video clip while mixer audio only but that is another topic. I bought two different usb 2.0 capture but one didn't work at all and the other work fine but with vdj looks really washed out and pixelated like a bad digital feed from direct tv. Could it be I need more ram. I currently have 1 gig. My computer is a lunchbox with a 939pin athlon 64 3000+ and an nvidea PCIE 128 meg video card

I'm not quite understanding your question. You want to capture from VCR or from another source?
In either case, the quality of your video capture starts at the source. NTSC S-Video sources (like a VCR) are only 480i (i forgot how much PAL is) and most consumer grade capture cards/devices support that at least.
So, if you are capturing from a VCR recording from TV, the quality can be dratsically reduced depending on your VCR settings (SP or EP during recording). Your best bet is to capture the broadcast live directly into your computer.
My personal choice for capturing NTSC sources are the Canopus MPEG-II encoders

Good A/D conversion and color chip IMHO.
What resolution are the screens your are outputting to?

also, to answer your other question RAM doesn't affect the quality of your video capture.

I think I understand his problem - he wants to use the Camera plugin in VDJ and his CApture card to Play a Television feed through VDJ and out to his bar/Club.
While doing this he wants to run a Scrolling text at the bottom of the screen to display messages.
Good Idea.
Unfortuanatly I have no Clue how to go about fixing his resolution / pic quality problem.
Like Joerockets said - The broadcast will depend on capture.
Haupague vid cards have a good rep
