And now I've got no idea what your all talking about...maybe your just a bunch of school kids mascurading around as Professional DJs, either that or your the DJs who never went to school, I am better than all of you in everything that I do!

"Dont think you are better than us"

Cult of beeing negative to anyone that stands up and believes in himself, saying that he's good and that he is pioneering new areas ... Like Conquest. You get your head bit off, in the dj world, if you say so..

And thats a bit sad actually ;)

Thanks norway. =)

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised to see who else is supporting mine, Icy Ice's, Debonair's, Jimnastik's, J-Solo's, (more to be announced later) Visual Turntablism movement.

The revolution HAS begun verbally, and a few shots have been fired visually over the past week and a half. We're just waiting for our REAL weapons (VDJ/VV MAC & 3rd gen TCV's) to launch an all out attack. ;)

For some misinformed people (cgarris) that think that I've been "trying" to do this for 20 years, let me set the record straight.

We've been doing this (turntablism -before it was even called that - and djing) for 20+ years, promoting clubs and hosted turntablist battles (Beat Junkie REPRESENT) for 15+, and been involved in the radio, labels, and music industry circuit for 10+ in one form or another. I've taken the past year off for personal reasons but will use our movement and VDJ/VV to launch back onto the scene. A 1 year break from the dj scene after 20 years is of no consequence to me, or my long established network contacts. =)

In those matters, we're not "trying" to do anything here, we've "been doing" those things for a long time now.

What we are "presently doing", which may mistakingly be misinterpreted as "trying" by those that are unenlightened, is propogating the new art of Visual Turntablism.

We believe that simultaneoulsy manipulating synchronized and/or random visual elements along with audio using traditional equipment (vinyl on turntables - regardless of the fact that the vinyl records are TCV's as opposed to analog) is a drastic enough leap forward in the art of turntablism and dj'ing to justify a DISTINCTION from, NOT simply a separation for the sake of segregation, all others who claim the title of "dj" without putting in a respectable amount of initial effort and/or continual effort to either better themselves or their art beyond the bare minimum basic skills. We believe that the addition of visual manipulation through traditonal means and equipment wil lead to a whole new level of creativity for traditional turntablists and dj's, and of course Visual Turntablists. We also believe that acknowledging that there is a difference between those individuals (in equipment, mannerisms, energy, etc., but most of all justified pride because of the higher level of devotion to ones skills and the art) and those who choose not to even acknowledge that when someone can do everything that they can do (beat match, pitch slide, automix) and then do things that they can't (scratch, beat juggle, etc.) regardless of the equipment on which it is being done, that that other person is in fact better.

In ANY sport or competition, the better person or team is generally the one that can beat the others by being able to do everything that they can do ("domination through assimilation"), but oftentimes better, and on top of that do things that the other person or team cannot. Better is better. PERIOD.

To us, the people who say "I don't need to be better at what I do" or (in reference to turntablism skills) say things like "that's old, sounds horrible, unnecessary, I don't 'get it', blah blah blah, etc." when international turntablist and dj competitions are on the rise in popularity (and now with the ability to add visual stimulation are about to get even better and more creative), are sell-outs, plain and simple.

Usually they sell-out because they're not good enough to be any better to begin with, or worse, don't even know that the continual bettering of one's skills is not only good for themselves, but for the art form alltogether. Then again, that doesn't matter to them, and they don't matter to us or anyone really, because they'll never be of any importance to anyone but themselves and the very few that hear or know of them. People with that frame of mind are not leaders, and as followers won't get in the way of the people who are.

Again, thanks for "getting" me norway! =)

i did that recently with a slightly ribald post about macs supposedly being more sexy than windows......just hoping for some laughs when the mac crowd had a field day with that.......but not even ConQuest took an interest and the topic was closed......and it wasn't about personal attacks and it wasn't very naughty ???????

I saw that post. I'm pretty sure I posted in it before it was locked. If not, I was about to. ;)

i actually don't dislike ConQuest when all is said and done but i think that his belief that turntablists are a superior breed is arguable to us non turntablists......

Of course it would be if that's what I was saying, but it's not.

I've stated very clearly that we are simply different in many ways. I've also said that I've seen crappy turntablists (in the simplest form of the definiton because they only use turntables as playback devices and/or to demonstrate amateur turntablism skills in public as a way to say "look at me, I can scratch!" ... embarassing =P) that would get their behinds beat down by serious cd dj's.

Yes, I'm a proponent of turntablism as a turntablist, but first and foremost, if you take pride in what you do and continually advance yourself as an artist and the art as well, then it doesn't matter what equipment you use.

The only times that I may have argued the "turntablists are better than dj's who don't use them" is when people say ignorant things that are completely disproven by simple purchasing trends like "turntables are having their last gasp".

LOL!

I'm talking to mp3jrick right now, and guess what he told me he got just the other day? Turntables. First ones EVER. He should be getting his Gen 3 TCV's today. I've seen these activities on these forums MANY times:

windows users switching to Macs? Yup.

CD/Controller DJ's wanting to try out turntables? Yup.

SSL users switching to VDJ/VV? We'll get there shortly. ;)

Intel Mac users switching to windows?... AAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!... I mean, no.

Turntablists switching to CD/Controllers? Only if they weren't good turntablists. (we'll miss ya... not)

GOOD turntablists switching to CD/Controllers? No. (adding them? Yes. Replacing? No.)

Everybody at Atomix and a good part of VDJ's user base are holding their collective breath for what right now? Mac versions of VDJ, 3rd gen TCV's, and Numark Virtual VINYL.

if like me your eyes now hurt from reading all that text lol

@ conquest

Have you bought some turntables now or are you still using the Hercules? What model are they? Your turntables that is - the ones you are using right now for video? Oh that's right. You don't own any turntables.

Back to sleep now. zzZZZzzZzZzzZz. This is just too easy.

Still using MK2.

Fact is that I've already been a turntablist for 2 decades, I've got videos and other visual elemnts to mix and scratch, and we are currently working on "VT Clips & Breaks" that will be video and audio bits for VT's to use at clubs, showcases, battles, etc. and will be sold through www.StacksVinyl.com and www.ExclusiveGrooves.com.

Me and my partner Icy Ice are promoting Visual Turntablistm and supporting Visual Turntablist as a title based on the fact that we fully believe them to be the next evolution of both the art form and the artist.

The fact that I don't have my own turntables right now (had 1200's from '88 until late '05 when they finally needed repair, and Numark TT200's afterwards because they were lighter and more convenient for gigs that I have to do on my own) means nothing. I have access to turntables all around me (especially at Stacks Vinyl which is only 15 minutes away) until I get my new ones, whatever they may be.

Why, were you gonna try and "clown' me because I don't have turntables and we're calling ourselves Visual Turntablists because we will be as soon as VDJ Mac drops, regardless of whether I use my own?

LOL! Oh "boo-hoo" for me... =P

I'm sorry, did I call your bluff and steal your thunder? HINT: Don't play checkers against someone who's playing chess.

You might want to ask Atomix Dev team about the Mac version which is our only hold up to promote Visual Turntablism though.

I'm sure they'll appreciate your inquiry as I don't think "When is the Mac version coming out?" has been asked for the millionth time yet.

Nice try though cgariss (not really).

Ooops! Looks like I saw right through you. It's like when Eminem battled that rookie MC in "8 Mile" and clowned him by knowing what he was going to say and saying it first.

Talk about too easy.

Fact is, I'll hop on ANY turntables and turn you out. =)

Bet on it! ;)

Yes, by all means, keep dreaming about having an ounce of talent (they say dreams come true) and trying to get an upperhand on me (again, dream... but much harder for that one). =P

Night, night, amateur. =)

Yo Marcel-

Learn how to identify the problem and don't play childish favorites.

cgarriss came on here with the sole intention of trying to clown me and got his rear end handed to him instead because I saw right through it. Nothing wrong with self defense.

Talk to him, and comfort him while you're at it.

ok both of you put a sock in it then plz ......

share the love not war

sad to say its bedtime for this thread :(
