We had a doctor drop off a ACURA NSX that he had imported from a dealer in California;

Nice car.

Any rate when I was walking out to to it to bring it in the shop for it's imported vehicle inspections, he met me at the car saying:

I'm Dr _________ Doctor of Internal Medicine.

to which I responded :

I'm Marcel, Doctor of Internal Combustion.

He was not impressed - no sense of ha ha.

You have NOOOO idea. I work at a BMW dealership during the day and you wouldn't believe some of these people.

I worked a year at a SAAB dealer when I first came to Edmonton, (left for more money)
and I noticed that SAAB owners, BMW owners, JAGUAR Owners, are mostly cut from the same cloth; They want to impress you. Either with money, or the preception of money.

I can vividly remember doing a major repair on a SAAB 93 turbo (cylinder head) and the guy was so maxed out on his credit that the dealership had to re-finance his car payment to include the repairs.

But he had his executive-class sedan.

I had never seen that before - but it happens a lot more than I ever had believed.

A rule of thumb for me is my car should not be worth more than 20% of my yearly salary
if it means used 1987 Honda Civic.. then so be it. At least your living within means.

Simpler life = happier life.

Hehe,

I'm too tight-fisted to spend so much on a car. Born In Yorkshire England with Scottish blood in my veins. We have especially tailored deep trouser pockets to go with our short arms.

I come across a lot of 'doctors' in my day job. A good put down is to ask them where they studied to get their medical doctorate (MD). Most haven't done the MD and the doctor tag is just a courtesy title. If they haven't got an MD it's quite legitimate to say. 'Oh you aren't a proper doctor then, it's just a courtesy title.'

They robably won't buy a car from you though. Unfortunately a bit of taking crap is necessary to do business with people like these.

This sort of big-headedness annoys me. They should do a spot of mobile DJing to get some life experience.

I am still chuckeling.

In the US, in the 80's (remember them) there was a brief period where the pretentous were naming kids things like:

Merceedes, Lexus, etc.

Hmmmm....never met a kid named Yugo, Pinto, or Geo!
