Ok, I am running Windows Vista Ultimate on a decent machine, please see the specs:
Specifications:
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor E6400 (2.13GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 2MB cache, non-HT)
Genuine Windows Vista™ Ultimate (32-bit)3
2048MB 667MHz Dual-Channel DDR2 SDRAM (2-1024MB modules)
500GB 7200rpm Serial ATA II/300 hard drive w/ 8MB cache (2-250GB hard drives)
19" Widescreen High Definition LCD Display
48x/32x/48x CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive
Radeon ATI x1300 Ultra Video Card with 128MB Dual DVI & TV-Out
Sound Blaster® X-FI PCI Card
9-in-1 Memory Card Reader
56K PCI data/fax modem
Intel® 975X Chipset with DDR2 and Intel® Core™ Duo support
Soft-touch USB Optical Wheel Mouse
700-Watt Power Supply
Here in lies the question. If I have all the settings on best quality but set the latency below 2048 I hear pops and crackles (ever so lightly) whenerver i use the mouse to scratch the turntables. If I set it at 1024 but still not so bad, they are more noticable and at 512, well- it is just down right annoying. The interesting thing is that these noises do not record...thank god.
There are NO IRQ comflicts. Suggestions? I guess given the system, I feel that i should at least be able to set latency at 512? Or am I deluded? I have safe mode and over drive off too, using them makes matters worse.
Any ideas?

Still lovin it!

i think your straining your card by having it on highest and trying to set a low latency

So, keeping it at 2048 is not unreasonable given the settings and system?
BTW VirtualDJ is VERY stable in Vista.
