A friend of mine is in a band but has nothing to record with. I also dont have much but I do have hercules dj console and I was wondering if it would be possible to record from the mic input each instrument and vocal one at a time and then piece them all together to make it one track. Would this be possible and would it sound better than recording sound from a video camera because that is what they are using right now.

OK....
You record with a recording program, not a DJ program.
Sony Vegas or Soundforge are good ones to use.
You can plug in the Live PA mixer to your computer's "record in"
but it will never sound as good as a studio because the live engineer is mixing the sound to the room and not to the recorder. You will end-up with a song high in Vocal and Kick and low in all other elements.
A good recording will come from multi-track recording and a good mix-down or by putting 2 omni-directional mics in the room to capture the whole sound produced by the band.
