Well it took a bit of time, but i worked out how to use the skin resizer tool.
My laptop screen is 1440x900
I tried resizing the cue widescreen skin and it almost looks perfect, but there are a few bits that haven't come out right that make it impossible to use.
Just some small issues with icons and buttons being a little out of line.
Are there any skins that will resize perfectly? Does anyone know?

Gary have you had any luck? I have tried several skins and all of them come up as "error"
I don't understand why VDJ won't make a skin this size,last I checked 1400x900 was the most popular size for Mac Books,I wonder if a potential purchaser of VDJ for the Apple version knew that VDJ wouldn't fit on their screen would they still spend the money or look elsewhere?

No luck at the moment. Just having to make do with it being too small.
If you look in the skin forum, there are some guys starting a business where they will build you a skin to your spec, but they are not up and running yet.
Yes, i do agree, they should make skins in our format. Surely the new widescreens are the way forward.
