Tema: Need help separating ripped DVD's into chapters.

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

Ok, I now have all DVD's ripped to my hardrive. I do not have the Software yet but should be receiving it Wednesday or Thursday so I want to have my music and videos prepared. I use a MAC and tried posting in the MAC forum but haven't had luck with responses yet so I figured I'd try here. Please help...

For each ripped DVD I have 2 folders: Audio_TS & Video_TS. Im assuming I need to separate the files in the Video_TS folder as I have nothing in the other (audio) folder.

I have 3 types of files in the Video_TS folder: .BUP - .IFO - .VOB

Now what do I do? Whats my next step? Any info would be appreciated, remember I use MAC.

Hmm.. Try http://www.mactheripper.org/
By trying a new program involves certain get-to-know period before knowing all the features. I don't use MAC so I don't really know how it works. But it seems to work best with original DVD's where you can extract each chapter of the content. (I use a IFO-reading vob extractor that extracts content of VIDEO_TS arhive vobs, but it is only for Windows.)

Next step is to either keep the extracted chapters as VOBs (titles of individual tracks) and name them, but if you prefer a more space-saving solution you might wanna encode them to another format, such as MPEG-1, which gives good quality among with less amounts of harddrive space required.

This seems like a good choice, for MAC: http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
Remember, this also requires a certain get-to-know period before finding the best video and audio quality settings that suits fine for you.

(Jeess, I only need Google to find out things..) Good luck, mate. Hope to see you join our nice and friendly community soon!

Thanks for the info mate. Im familiar with Mac The Ripper. I used to use it a while back. I already have the ripped DVD's on my hard drive. I just don't know how to separate them into single files/tracks.

I know I can google it to find info but I'd rather get the knowledge of people who have done it before and have sound advice.
