i have a hercules mk2 with the software that came with it plus the updates when first installed. my question is im in the market for my first laptop n everything comes with windows vista. i keep hearing horror storys about some hardware n software not working with vista. does anyone know if im gonna have a problem.
also after i analysed all of my music i had to wipe out my computer cause of a problem. i tryed to save everything in the virtual dj folder. when i reloaded everything i only had past playlists, no bpm or time for any of my tracks. anybody out there know how to prevent me from losing it all again when i transfer my stuff to the laptop.
please help me keep my sanity

Having not switched to VISTA - I don't particularly like it (or trust it, yet) - I'm not really one to help on that side of things, however, I have also heard these issues that you describe. Having said that, i'm sure the vista hardware/software issues are actually due to the hardware itself (ie the HDJC) not having software that supports VISTA, and not the other way round...perhaps someone else who is using VISTA can confirm.
In saying that, apparently VISTA is making alot of improvements to the VDJ user. Alot of errors seem to be 'away' when VISTA is used. Like I say, I'm not transferring yet so don't have any actual experience of it.
On the BPM loss side of things, you need to save your Database.xml file onto a disk or something and load that back into your VDJ folder after a reinstall. That way, you won't lose all the important juicy data about your tracks. Always take a back up copy of the file and use it for this purpose and any other such problems...such as corrupt database.
Cheers...and keep spinnin'...(",)

Make sure you read the posts about saving your bpm & database stuff if you swap to Vista. Pionara is right about backing up, but in Vista you don't just copy it back into your VirtualDJ folder. Vista creates a special folder for users and it has to be copied into that.
I'm using Vista & VDJ 4.3 with Maya44USB. I'm happy with 90% of things, but I would give it a few more months before changing to Vista if you use VDJ for work purposes. There still seems to be the odd things than need sorting out, just little things.

I just recently switched to VISTA also when I purchased my laptop. I also have the M2K and so far I have not had any problems. Make sure if you do switch to vista install all the vista drivers you need for M2K, you can get it off the hercules website. You may also have to tweak some of the settings in VDJ but its worth it.
Ever since I switched to vista i have no issues what so ever. Just make sure when you buy your laptop don't go cheap. Get the good processor and lots of memory, that definitly helps. If anything I would say the preformance has improved with vista. hope this helps
