Just wanted to see who is using bootcamp with windows XP.
I need to get this going and the Mac version is not working quite to par for me yet. The last thing I want to do is install Windows on my MacBook Pro but I have meetings/demos with GM's and Owners starting tomorrow...I guess I'm going to try to get it together tonight. Back everything up and cross my fingers.
1. Who's using it successfully?
2. I have a copy of XP from my brothers Dell, think that will work?
3. Any suggestions on guides for install?
Thanks, Charlie Five

Been doing it since April '06.
Just download and follow the simple instructions C5.
It's easy to do... afterall, Apple made it, not microsoft. That's why it works so well. =P
No, your brothers OEM version of windows won't work. Only a boxed version of winBlows XP sp2 will work.

Alright...I did it! I installed Bootcamp and Windows XP on my Macbook Pro. Hope "Vicki" (thats my computers name) doesn't get sick.
I can't believe the difference between the Windows and the Mac version. I was ready to through Virtual Vinyl in the trash and return this Total Control mixer because of my disappointment with the Mac version. I briefly played with the Windows version and I couldn't believe the difference. Its like 2 different pieces of software! All my music video files that I was having problems loading were playing fine. All of the extra video transitions and that come standard were great. The only problem that I have is that the program has crashed everytime that I have attemped to use it. (Prob a windows issue, not optimizing yet)
The only issue I have now is getting it stable with my Mac running windows. More to come if anyone is considering running Bootcamp.

My gripe :: Why release the Mac version yet? Its not ready and casues alot of confusion and frustration. Its just a let down to current users and so far...is a joke for potential new users (switchers). I was a day away from returning everything and never looking back. I was checking my bank statements and planning on purchasing the TTM 57SL and waiting for the video Scratch Live/1.8 to get released. Now that I have the Windows version working (again on my Mac w/Bootcamp) I'm blown back! It's an amazing tool for DJ's. I know everyone here is constantly complaining about the Mac version but its horrible compared to the Windows version.

I've been Gigging with Mac VDJ and TCV for months now... It's stable as hell... Only problem is, no Effects, transitions, and many skins don't work on mac... (Like mixlab, or V-mix)
the app is smokin though!

Wait...Are you kidding? Are you DJ'in just MP3's? I bought Virtual Vinyl strictly for the Video feature. The MAC version is full of problems with video. Or am I missing something...Cause none of my lossless quality vids play in the Mac version, but they play just fine when I use it in with Bootcamp and XP.

Actually Steve, I'd like to know this as well.
anewsome had mentioned that you have the Mac version working with video and even he doesn't know how you did it. And he's a beta tester too.
What's the deal?

i've still haven't got this to work on my macbook pro. can't use mac side because of soundcard.
tcv doesn't work on bootcamp with my serato card. all it does is click & pop.
i'm just waiting for serato. every demo they do is using a mbp. that way i'm not lugging around a pc.
plus i like using osx

I only DJ with music, haven't made the giant leap to videos yet (plus none of my gigs would use video anyways), but I too use Windows XP via Boot Camp v1.2 on my Macbook and have never had a problem with stability or performance.
I personally think that if you're using a Macbook or Macbook Pro, you would prefer running VDJ natively on Mac OS X rather than on Boot Camp, but it is a workable alternative until VDJ for Mac is really ready.
Actually, I have no problem with using Boot Camp, the only thing that frustrates me is that all my playlists are in iTunes on Mac OS X, and it's a real pain to convert and import them onto Windows, since you can't read the OS X drive partition from within Windows.
Using Boot Camp also lets turntable users continue using their timecode setup, which unfortunately doesn't work on VDJ for Mac yet (unless you have Numark Virtual Vinyl).
Long story short, VDJ on Windows XP via Boot Camp has worked flawlessly for me, minus a few minor inconveniences of having playlists set up in OS X. Hope it's working out for you.

I'd just like to add that I've been using the MAC version for video since it came out, with no problems what so ever. Note that I've just used it with Mpegs and avi files so far(I'm waiting for my new VOB library to be finished).
I don't have any major problems at all...since that search problem was fixed I haven't had a crash either...

I'm not quite sure I follow..?
I do use TCV's with Virtual Vinyl...and I used to use Serato...
(So far, I think the Vinyl control and latency is much better on Virtual Vinyl compared to Serato)
Or were you talking about something else??

I'm sorry for being a total moron!!
I didn't realize that you were asking about using it with bootcamp(which even is the topic in this thread..:)
I'm of course using the MAC version...not Bootcamp....
*Bows head in shame*

Sky did you do something to make them work in mpeg format? Mine will not work when using VV in OS X. When I use XP and Bootcamp my vids work fine. They are all mpeg 2, non compressed, just separated files...The file name says .mpg. The only vids I can get to work is the low quality ones I have downloaded for P2P sites (limewire), just to test of course. And when I play these I get the artifact thing. In windows, no probs so far. I only just toyed with both sides so far though. I've been busy working and separating all my new vids.
