Tópico: Switching to Mac

Este tópico es antiguo y puede contener información incorrecta para la nueva versión.

I've been using a cheap Gateway with my TCV setup and it has never been totally stable. Also, the latency is pretty bad and song skipping happens at least a few times a night. I think I'm going to get a Mac because of its stability and because I hope to produce music on it later on. So, basically I am asking if you guys think this is a good idea and, if so, which one should I buy (I'm thinking one of the Macbooks). Finally, will I be able to download the Mac version of VDJ now that I have already downloaded and been using the PC version, or will I have to re-buy the program? I appreciate any opinions!

Since you are a professional edition use you will be able to download the MAC version.

My advice as far as which computer. Go with the Macbook Pro. There are plenty of rumors floating around that Apple will be releasing a new Macbook Pro line in the next couple of weeks. So hold tight till WWDC, which is around the middle of June. If price is a big issue. Check the Apple website and look for refurbished models. I have a few friends that purchased refurbs and are more than satisfied. $2000 usd can get you a 15", 2.33ghz, 2gb ram, with the best video card they currently have in the lappy's.

They just upgraded the Macbooks but I would still wait to see the unveiling of the upgraded Macbook Pros.

You won't have any regrets switching to Mac Strangelove. =)

windows users switching to Mac is the norm now, and besides, you can always throw windows on your Mac if you find that you have a need for it later on. However, most people find that they don't need windows at all, they just need Office which is available for Mac.

If you're gonna be taking advantage of VDJ's video capabilities, then definitely get a MacBook Pro and definitely wait until as early as this week (probably Tuesday morning) or until the new MacBook Pro's are released (soon, but again, probably by this week or at Apple's WWDC which takes place from June 11th-15th). The new features WILL be justified in that the pricing will remain the same as the current models, but you will also have the option to pick up one of the current models at a discounted price.

Welcome to the Mac community Strangelove!

i love it wont look back

its nice to have a machine that does what it says on the box no

irq channel nonsense

no high latencies and no video card driver inasnity

Sweet! Thanks for the opinions guys and I will let you know when I pick one up. Cheers!

Be aware though. I am currently using Bootcamp along Windows XP with Virtual Vinyl (VDJ). As I think Conquest is. Right now the Windows version is great but the Mac version is still sub par for me. I am strictly using it for videos though and have never even tried to run one of my MP3's.

i dont use vv but for mp3s for me its great :)

the video is actually the weak part of virtual dj mac.. the audio is fine, and stable as hell, but the choppy video has to go... it's very annoying.

They keep saying it's a mac osx shortcoming due to a major flaw in the OS that doesn't allow fullscreen video overlay.

I dunno... I mean I know this is why no one else really has video running for mac either (Serato, PCDJ) no one can seem to get it to work right...

very discouraging...

10.5 and core animation should hopefult solve that.

As for choice of MAC, you don't need to spend all your money on a MacBook PRO.
A MacBook with 2GB ram is "kick-ass" with my Virtual Vinyl Package, even with videos, so I so no need to spend the extra cash on a PRO, unless you need it for something else as well. You can spend the rest of your money on some more new gear/music/etc. because a "regular" MacBook will be more than enough to suit your needs.

very true i use a macbook aslo its very stable:)

I use a macbook too, and I am very satisfied with it. My Macbook is exellent.

I did take too long to convert to Mac lol
