well i finally got some good latency on my machine that should have been giving it all along. (pentium core duo, 2 gigs ram, 2.2 GHZ processor, ESI u46DJ on .18 drivers)
steps:
-new user account like sky's blog. also turned off many of my services on startup and in general too.
-virtual dj shell instead of explorer
with this setup, everything was almost the same as before. but here's what was kicker for me:
under the new XP account, all the vdj settings reverted back to default. and i didn't think anything of it... so i just pushed play on my timecodes and WOW- amazing latency and great scratch speed.
then i changed the timecode from default (vinyl) to cd (cause i was running cd timecode)... and it sucked. haha
apparent moral: use the vinyl timecode setting and see if that changes anything for all you cd-turntable users. i haven't the slightest reason why, but all my scratches are much better with it on vinyl.
