Hello every one.
I'll start off by listing my setup.
Numark Cue
Dual Numark iDCX's
Rane Empath Mixer
I bought the Empath about 2 months before I decided to go digital. Now I am wanting a mixer that will run the internal mixer on CUE. It's not needed I guess, but I want to be able to record my mixes with out using the knob on the icdx as the cross fader.
I haven't had good luck with the Numark boards. Thier mic input is way to noisy for me.
I spent the big bucks on the Rane mixer because I wanted the best around. I would hate to take a huge loss if I sell the mixer, but like I said, it would be nice to have a USB mixer also.
Let me hear your thoughts.
Should I keep the Empath and suffer with the knob crossfader on the icdx?
Should I purchase a new USB mixer and take a loss on the Empath?

I'm not quite sure what you're asking to be honest. The Rane is a nice mixer. Are you talking about fading videos and having to use the ICDX for that?

Something like this but works with CUE and not Scratch Live.

the Ecler NUO 4 is used by people on these boards. Search the forums, I'm not sure if it has been successfully mapped yet. I personally don't see the benefit of controlling the internal software mixer when you have a hardware mixer. You have a very good mixer in the Empath. If it was a video thing I understand wanting to control the video fader with a midi device but you can do that a lot cheaper with the x-session or a Hercules console rather then a brand new midi mixer.

- Ecler Nuo4 and Nuo5
- Korg Zero4 and Zero8
- Pioneer DJM700 and DJM800
- Allen & Heath Xone3D
and a few more...

Thanks for the help all... looks to be more of a PITA than it's worth.
I'll just use the know on the iCDX to controll the internal crossfader.

i'll check it out....
Does it controll all the kill switches too?
Also, is this a plug and play unit? or will I need to map the controlls?
I never had good luck with Numark boards though. The mic channel is so loud... (hisss)

Jeremy - I don;t think anyone told you this:
Numark USB mixers are NOT midi - are just Usb SOUNDCARDS embeded in the mixer. They are just mixers that have a non asio (non timecode compatable) soundcard
To have a mixer that controls the interface it must be a MIDI mixer.
Look into Ecler.

wow, Yeah that was a huge overlooked factor.
Thanks a lot for the info... I'll be keeping the Empath then.

so what mixers ARE timecode friendly, cause I'm mostly familiar with Numark and Pioneer mixers, haven't heard of these other brands
