I have a toshiba laptop, maya44 usb and virtual dj.
i sometimes just run it off straight out of the laptop
and other times with the TCVs i have.
yet sometimes it hesitates and when i edit the bass or treble
theres a little distortion. i tried everything and nothing works.

well, as a user who only uses an external mixer i dont have this problem. however when i fly and do some mix checking just on soundcard and headphones, i find the gain on the eqs are really high. I _never_ go beyond zero, it will distort. keep in mind that digital files, especially cd rips are 95% time compressed for cd packaging. this means that the envelope that you have to play with is only from 0 down, and not up. digital is not like analog, once a signal is at zero db, you cant increase the volume more even if it's sounding low coming out of your mixer or soundcard.
internet is as fast as your weakest connection. digital audio is the same, it clips at it's loudest point. the confusing thing alot of users have is that if they crank the audio gain in vdj but their soundcard internal mixer is down, it will still distort and sound low. you have to find the point where the levels are down, and have all levels equally boosted, and not do it at one point.
