i use nvidia and haven't as yet had any problems with their cards either running on xp or vista, mind you it is a dedicated lappy only for vdj, or i could just be one of the lucky ones not to have any problems

does that imly its fixed with vista ? i have a 8800 runnin ok with vista but a 8600 gave me a mini freeze of 1 second video, then recover, i tweaked it to fix and I did fix it but the fix caused an audio skip at the beginning - this is all automix by the way, I then reversed my fix and checked 'safe mode' on performance setting ( also latency auto and overclocked unchecked, preset to fastest) dual core, 2gb, dedicated lappy hp, 540rpm hdd. its now working but I'm concerned what caused it - I have lappy on trial so need to decide

There was a time when ATI was the choice for laptops doing video.
Now its like Energiser vs Duracel, they both make light with you put them in a flashlight.

Is it Dave from London or Dave from Houston btw...???

Yer confusin me

I am looking to purchase the laptop above with details below but in a nutshell it is a:

-CPU Type Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 1.66G
-Operating System Windows Vista Home Premium
-Memory Speed DDR2 667
-Memory 2GB ******(I PLAN ON MAKING THIS 4 GIG)***** **
-Hard Disk 250GB
-Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS
-Video Memory up to 1024 MB of TurboCache (256 MB of dedicated GDDR2 VRAM, up to 768 MB of shared system memory)
-CPU FSB 667MHz
-CPU L2 Cache 2MB
-Video Port 1 x VGA, 1 x S-Video TV-out, 1 x HDMI

Does anyone foresee a problem in this? I did hear problems with the nvidia 8000 series having a problem but from what I also read, they were only with xp and people having 2 gig rams or below. If I have vista and bump the Ram Memory from 2 gig to 4 gigs and leave the "TurboCache" on will this video freezing and crashing still be an issue? Also, the S-Video out, is that where everyone outputs to the "big screen"? I've read quite a few forums regarding the issue I'm posting but I didn't really see a concrete answer for my situation, like I said, I saw mixed solutions/opinions. Anyone here have some input regarding this question. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hey Guys, I am having a problem with a new Dell latptop that I purchased to do video with VDJ. The problem is similar to the ones it seems that everyone is having regarding the stopping of the video while playing.

System Specs.
Dell Precision M 4300
Intel Core 2 Duo
T7250 @ 2.00 GHZ
1.99 GHZ, 2.00 GB of Ram
NVIDIA Quadro FX 360 M

I need this to work flawlessly I have a big gig this weekend with video.

Thanks for the help.
