Is there any sort of roadmap for this to work at all? I read all about issues with the HC4500, but never anything with the HD2500.

There are many new controllers , and the developers have got to make tough decisions on which ones to natively map first.
in an ideal world they would like to offer support for all controllers , but this takes time and permission from each company must be sought first.
But all controllers can be mapped via general midi in remotes to your personal preference , the only main advantage of native support is that is its pre-mapped for users.
