I got my one issue solved (red/green/blue bars) by reverting to wmp codec instead of built in decoder.
So far, life is good. Installed K-Lite standard package for ffdshow support. Now playing a VOB in VDJ loads fast, it stutters when looping. The MP4 AVI does not.
geEforce 7600 GS w/ latest forceware. XP SP2.
Any clues?

Problem solved... uninstalled K-Lite and installed XP Codec pack.
VOB play very nice and loop perfectly.
K-Lite = BAD
XP Codec = GOOD
