Hi everyone, just got my MBP
2.6 GHz
4 Gig ram
8600 card with 512 mb
Wondering what hard drives mac guys are using. For my pc system i use WD 1 TB drives and i keep them from falling asleep with a software called MDIS that works great but does not work on mac.
I want to run my hard drive using fire wire 800 but dont know what company to go with. Any suggestions ?

I also have the same Mac but the 2.5ghz one.Go the firewire way so you can save your USB ports. Cause you only have 2. Notice that the above link has bus powered USB drives that can ran @ 7200rpm.

Thanks for the response guys. Both links lead to great products but i need a terrabyte if space.

I'm with Mantahoe... go with firewire if possible to keep the USB free for sound cards or controllers. Firewire drives come with two firewire ports so you can chain the drives together without the need of a hub.
