load a track into deck 1
play it for a second then stop deck
load another track in the same deck
press play.
Sometimes it plays the 1st second of the last song!?
directx bug? sound card related?

If you allow the track to be fully loaded this won't happen. This occurs because the virtual memory doesn't have time to refresh.

Hi DJ
It doesnt really bother me but it does still do it even when the track has fully loaded...

Really, thanks Stuxxx I never noticed it other than when it was not fully loaded. Defiantely a reportable bug.

It doesnt seem to do it all the time though??
Strange one...
I've tried letting the song fully load and also tried loadin on a playin deck that is not active but i don't seem to be able to see a pattern in it.
It is very random in fact now i cant seem to re-create it at all!!
Maybe some one else may see the scenario thats causing it?
Cheers
Stu
P.S BPM in 1.06 is much better... nice one !!!

This should be easy to fix... I wonder why it hasn't been, it's reported since 1.02...

it could be direct X or sound card related
I am testing on a AC'97 sound card. anyone else care to share what card you are using?

Three set ups
1) Desktop with audigy 2 and extigy..
2.14ghz W2k o/s with 1024mb ram 128mb video ram
2) Laptop 1 with avance 97 internal s/c and extigy external
1.8ghz W2k o/s with 512mb DDR ram 64mb video ram
3) Laptop 2 - same as Laptop 1 but
2 ghzXP pro o/s 512mb ram 64mb video ram
(And before the team tells me of for sharing these are all my puters. Desktop at home and i use one laptop as the main..the second is linked for occasionlly projected winamp visuals etc and is also there as a backup should the first fail for some reason...YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE!)
I had a real sound problem issue with VDJ on laptop 1 my main working lapy..(strange because atomix worked fine) but have recently completed re-formatted the whole puter and gone rite back to sys bios etc and updated everything.. The only thing now on the puter is the op/sys drivers and vdj... (music on external hard drive).
It now seems to run fine....
I am also slowly re-ripping all my music from 128kbps to 192kbps to try to improve the sound even more....
I have managed to get this problem to do it on all the systems at some point but still can't pin point whats causing it...
To be honest, I dont find it a problem but if these stats help sort the issue all the better..

Stuxxx, so with all three systems you have the same issue?
Mensajes Mon 15 Sep 03 @ 7:41 pm
It has definately happened on the desktop and my normal working lapy...which is the 1.8ghz one..
But it doesnt happen all the time...maybe 1 in 20 or maybe less...
To be honest i often do not really notice it, its only when using automix at the start of the eve, it sometimes becomes apparent...
And i rarely use automix so for me not really an issue..
But if i can help to solve the puzzle for others all the better..

Umm
Tried that DJ...
I tried allowing the song to completely load and also tried loading another track whilst the first was still loading,,,
I did manage to get it to happen in both instances..
I also tried stopping the track half way through after crossfading to the other deck and then loading onto the stopped deck to see if this was causing it but again it happened randomly.....
I can't see a pattern !
It only seems to play about 250ms of the track its really quick !
Not really an issue for me like i say but it is puzzling...

Hi,
This bug is soundcard related.
And it doesn't matter if the song is fully loaded or not.
I had it with some internal soundcards like
"Soundmax Digital Audio" from "Analog Device" in my
Vaio. I think it's a bug in the soundcard driver that does not
correctly implement the DirectX interface. But it should be
possible to correct it in VDJ maybe by adding a DirectX
function call to reset the buffer.

if it is sound card related then when I get my echo indigo card, it may be fixed

I observed the same problem at my last gig. I haven't had the problem since vdj 1.02. I didn't have it with 1.03, .04 or .05? Curious! In order for me to avoid the problem, I have to hit play for 2 secs on the track that is cued to play next. This is an inconvenience to say the least. It happens whether the whole song is loaded into memory or not. I have a p4 1.6 ghz notebook with 512mb ram, an ac97 soundcard (I recently started using SB Extigy, though (for about 5 weeks - this weekend is the first time the problem occurred).

I've had the same issue. But rarely and And it seems to keep happening once it happens once until I reset. I have a 2.66 p4 1+gig mem and gigaport. Heck of a setup. I think it may be in the programing. But again, doesn't happen all the time. My computer really flys and is brand new. Don't think it's that. Hope this helps.
