I have the latest pre-release 1785, do i need to redownload and install or will it update on its own ???

you need to allow reinstalling it when popup request it...dont worry,it's super fast.in the other hand if like me the system wont allow it and you get error message then reboot your computer,that will fix the error.then open vdj 8 and go thru with the installation...

If you're on Windows...
When this happens, have you checked your Task Manager to see if VDJ (or multiples of) is running?
End them all and the update will work without needing a reboot.
