If the sample pack is a .zip, the samples can not be edited.
If they need to be edited, you could unzip the pack.

@Adion, there needs to be some sort of message on screen when users attempt this, rather than it just not working.
Give the user some feedback :-)

i'd settle for just a written instruction on the download page. no worries now that I know its not an actual bug.
