Insert button ? The "New.." option from the list does the job i think.

@ djdad, sorry but imo the "new" option within the poi editor is not very user freindly, but I noticed somewhere that the placement of AM poi's can also be done by scripting some custom buttons ... I'm just gonna wait until someone can do it ... 'cos I can't get my head around it
