Personally, if I can help someone, I’m much more inclined to help someone who’s shown some initiative and tried to get their own answer first. Especially on a simple question. And I expect others to treat me that way, too.

Really, you didn't even need to visit the forum at all. Simply searching Google for ddj-1000 vdj would have provided you with an answer.

Yes, this is admirable and I use to do the same, simple or complicated question, but fair. I'm not a rude person, but asking that looks like a joke to me. The point is the disrespect to the community when you recognize you didn't read the thread or used Google beforehand. It is more easy and direct going the straight way. As stated... By the way, YES. It works like a charm thanks to the hard work of the team with the essential contribution of many users around here.

I'm also very pleased with the DDJ-1000 / VDJ combo. Works without a single hickup!

I think I'm gonna sound a bit controversial here, but, here goes;

I sold my DDJ-1000 over a month ago. Why?

1st issue - There is no mid eq on the microphone channel. I could not get a decent quality sound using my trusty old Sure SM58 and found it 'blaring' if turned up to what I considered a decent level. As I do around 50 weddings per year, besides other gigs, I need a decent clear microphone sound for announcements. I felt the DDJ-1000 was not as good as my Denon MC6000 MKII at this.

2nd issue - The switch for the microphone is in a bad place at the back of the unit and is operated sideways. It has to be moved to the right to switch on the microphone and it is too easy to slide it too far to the 'ducking' position. I don't like the 'ducking' system and prefer manual volume control for 'talk over'.

3rd issue (The deal breaker) - The channel gains. I use VirtualDJ at the default 0db, yet, the DDJ was only showing half volume on the channels. I found myself like those festival DJs 'knob twiddling' all night, I've never had to do this on my Denon MC6000 MKII. On every track I had to turn up the gain to bring the incoming track into the amber area of the meters (NOT red before anyone asks), even when the output from VDJ was at the maximum.

4th issue - As a Mac user the DDJ effects section was totally useless. I've seen posts that it is a Mac issue and the PC version works OK.

Don't get me wrong, the DDJ-1000 is a great unit to work with, but, my problems above are a deal breaker.

As for Rekordbox, all my new tunes over the last 10 years have been mainly videos from Promo Only. So, I use videos and older mp3s in the same playlists. That is not possible in Rekordbox ATM. Plus the video module is extra money. I prefer to stay with VirtualDJ anyway as I've used it for over 11 years.

I was originally gonna get the Denon MC7000 when this dropped in January. I suppose I was a victim of the Pioneer 'hype' thinking that this would be the way forward. Looks like I will be buying the Denon MC7000 after all subject to testing the microphone channel as it too does not have a mid eq.

I used the original Denon MC6000 MK 1 for 5-6 years before moving onto the MKII 2 or 3 years ago. Now if I get the MC7000 does this mean I'm a Denon 'fanboy' lol.

This is the one I don't get. I can't wrap my head around how/why that would happen. Hopefully someone else can tell you/us the reason

Probably - but that is not a bad company for Fanboy'ing
Good old, reliable and a bit boring compared to other more hyped products
What's not to like :)

I'm also looking at the MCX 8000, but, it may be overkill for what I do, dunno. Temptation, temptation lol.

When I get a free day there's a supplier not too far away where I bought my MC6000 MKII. I can go and play with what he has in stock. :-)

The MCX8000 mic channels are excellent Les (no mid range knob), but as you probably know the units themselves are hit and miss regarding quality control, especially with the screens and freezing isues. The MC7000 appears to be reasonably the same unit without the standalone and EQ on the booth out.

Regarding your mic, honestly the SM58 is very old hat now and sounds really terrible. I went through some extensive testing with a friend who also has a "trusty" one and couldn't figure out how on his Bose L1 system and various other places he worked it sounded "muffled". I let him try my Sennheiser E945 line mic and the difference is like day and night. The E945 capsule is also good at anti-feedback so you can use it in very loud venues with no trouble at all. they are so good I have both the line and radio versions and they're faultless. The sound on it is so good you don't even need the mic EQ, on my MCX8000 it just sits at zero.

Using the SM58 today is the same as driving round in a Mk3 Ford Escort, and about the same quality :)

Ha ha ha, mines about 20 years old. Maybe I should checkout the modern ones.

I don't use the booth out anyway and doubt I'd use the stand alone, so, probably not worth the extra money and go for the MC7000.

Thanks Keith. Never had need for a wireless mic, so, will stick with a cable mic. Will look at them when checking out mixer/controllers.

EV ones are used by many DJs too. I'm like Les - I have four SM58s (in case I need to provide band PA), but I do also have some condenser mics.

Using the SM58 wasn't a problem for me because I had four band EQ on the Xone:92. :-)

It's simple. The djj-1000 is basically a software mixer when running any software. I have never had good results when running software control over my mixer. I literally tortured myself for 2 years with the ddj-sx/sx2 this way.

The default setting on my DDJ-RX puts the LED’s at 0db. The other two settings are -3db and -6db which would drop you down to half meter. Maybe the 1000 has a setting as well.

There's nothing in the manual to adjust the incoming signal other than the trim control. I always had the latest firmware installed, but, it made no difference. Output from VirtualDJ was 0db yet the LED's were only half way up the green LEDs as though I was outputting at -6db. I had to turn up the trim on every track to get it into the amber zone. Each track loaded would clear the trim and I would have to do it manually again.

It's academic for me now as I sold the DDJ-1000 last month.

It appears that I misremembered the setting. The setting I was describing was for the master output attenuation.
My apologies.
