I use a Asus laptop with Windows 10.
I usually use VDJ's Automix and when I leave it playing music I want the screen to turn off automatically after a minute to save battery. Or at least start the windows screen saver.
I can't find a way to do either of these
Do you have a solution??

create a black image the full size of your screen, save it in a sample bank and once your automix starts trigger the black screen sample. Black pixels use less power.

No, there's not and it's this way for a reson.
VirtualDJ actually uses a flag on purpose that tells your OS to prevent the screen from going off.
Why ? Because it's a DJ software. It's not meant to be used solely as a Jukebox.
Therefore 99,99999% of users actually WANT their screen to never go off while using VirtualDJ.

Actually, there is a way to make this process Automatic.
Create a Black image at your screen resolution.
Create a folder on your desktop and place the image in the folder.
(make sure nothing else is in the folder just your black image.)
Now activate your VDJ video output.
Select the SlideShow option. Set it as "source for audio-only tracks" and turn the toggle on.
Make sure in the side panel you set your directory to the one that has only your black image in it.
Now anytime your Automix has an audio track playing, it will automatically load the black image file and hold it and boom your screen is now black.
This will also work for any graphic or video file. So if you wanted a screen saver one to load just place it in the created subfolder. A black screen will use the least amount of energy. I would also turn down the screen brightness to reduce it even further.
(This will however leave the system open and anyone can access it. Currently, VDJ has no way to LOCK the PC from access when you step away. It would be a very helpful feature, for when working alone and need to step away while keeping the show going, but still protecting access to VDJ features and personal audio files.)
You could set your lock screen to a black image and use the WIN+L to lock the PC but this would not be automatic, but would secure the PC while you step away. However, it also disables the video output if using a monitor (as a note)
Enjoy!
I would also add that while YES VDJ is obviously DJ software, anyone is allowed to use it for any purpose. So if your only purpose is as a JukeBox then wow VDJ would be one perfect JukeBox software.
You could also use VDJ Software connected to a monitor to display advertisements and video files with no speakers attached at all. While it is called Virtual DJ, it is really a powerful MEDIA Playing software that can be used for any media purpose, even not for DJing.

You can lock down the SW from unwanted hands,
you could have a blank skin and a keyboard mapper that only has 1 script with a unusual key combo
and the action, switches skin and mapping

There is an Automix function in VirtualDJ for a reason.. because it is useful to some people.
I personaly organize latin parties.. I play the music usually with Automix because most of the time I also dance to this parties!
But 5-6 times within a year I play in latin festivals and there I use VirtualDJ normally, not Automix
So there could be a switch within the program to activate the black screen, for power saving and privacy

Just lock your screen with an OS command and turn your screen brightness down to zero?
There are even skins that include a "lock screen" which basically shows no elements that modify playback behaviour, shows mostly black and maybe one element that reloads the regular skin again on some click condition (check Vanced GT for that example).
Tbh though, your use case doesn't register as a normal DJ use case, it registers as a jukebox usecase (Tidal/Spotify/etc on phone) as @PhantomDeejay said earlier.

1) A laptop that plays music on a professional environment, such as in a Latin party, should NOT run from batteries, and also should NOT have any "power savings" enabled (due to DPC Latency issues)
2) Privacy can be achieved by locking windows. WIN+L keyboard combination is GLOBAL and locks any Windows machine immediately.
So, if privacy is a concern, set a password on your Windows installation (you should definately have one regardless) and just lock your account by using WIN+L
All programs will keep running in the background, and if power savings are disabled you should not have any issue at all.

I outlined how to automate the process above. Follow the steps and when you activate automix the screen will go black for power saving and privacy. Clicking automix would be the "switch", once set up this would be your one switch solution.
