Im new to Dj'ing and wanted to test your program before I commit to buy. I downloaded a trial, installed the program and ran it. Mixing MP3's worked, so i decided to try out video mixing.
I tried dragging an MPG onto a deck, pressed play and the video didn't appear but the sound did. Am I doing something wrong? I tried the video effects like the text one, entered some text and nothing appeared.

Are you able to play it on windows media player?
(No). If not then you need to download a nice video codec pack like K-Lite.
(Yes). If you can play it on windows media player then you can try going into options and changing the codec it opens with from "video decoder" to "windows media video decoder", that should help.

Changed it from 'video decoder' to "windows mediaplayer video decoder" - didn't change anything, still see a blank screen but it plays the audio. And yes the video plays properly with windows media player.
As for PC specs, my pc is 4 yrs old and pretty crappy :P :
Pentium 4 CPU 2.00GHZ
1.99 GHZ
256MB RAM
Anything else i should try, or should i just use another product?

Download a Video Codec Pack from somewhere it's probably just that
One other thing it could be, disable hardware accel and see if it works

look for k-lite full
it's got all the good codecs and its free
you still might have to get a few specialty codecs like mpeg4 and .m2v
did you try without hardware accel on?

Right, already had k-lite installed to watch movies and stuff, turned hardware accel off and it worked! But i now have another problem.
None of the effects work :( For instance i tried using the text effect, typed in some text, chose and a colour, pressed 'apply' then 'activate' and nothing happened.
Tried all the others like zoom and strobe, video stayed the same.
Any ideas?

make sure you have the latest DX installed
and after K-Lite did you try with hardware accel on?
what kind of Video Card do you have?

OOps, mat I include another question: Where exactly does one get to the acceleration ON/OFF choice?

k-lite self installs, if you can - leave the hardware accell on
