I agree with some others about "rock the party with whatever" and still like the some technique thrown in there. Damn, I thought this would be just another thread of try what you want and use it. Don't ask us. Then a whole turntabilist vs. push button :)))) BTW....As much of I've supported Numark TT's..1.7 grams of torque is enough and Technics control arm is the key. I'm a Numark turntablist convert to Technics and VDJ. I have serato btw. Table pusher hahahhahaa. I like it. People dancing, people paying you, that's about it. Isn't it?

Yeah man. It's still the music that matters. I've done 34 years of djing, used all types of equipment some good some bad, but still rocked the crowd consistently by playing the music the crowd want or didn't know they wanted till I arrived.

I think the bottom line is that it really doesn't matter what you use it's how you use it.

I'd like to see a "turntabelist" rock a club for 8 hours without getting fired.

It's a bit like speeding in a car, just because you can do it, doesn't mean it's smart or safe.

I think a good night in a club is all about balance, you need a balanced DJ who would idelally be into all kinds of popular music, someone who can be shaped by the night, not someone with an attitude to shape it themselves. You need good people skills, the last thing you need is mixing skills, mixing is about the DJ, but music is about the people, it's important to remember which of these is the most important, if you don't know it's the ones paying the money.. not the one playing for it.

What's said between DJ's is just school boy propaganda in order to put the other down, that's where terms like "push button DJ's" originate from, the kind that think an ability to scratch is an ability to be the best DJ in the world, sorry but it just doesn't work that way, a bit like these DJ's who think they are some sort of leaders or somehow in the future because they play videos, that too is false. It's different strokes for different folks, what you've got to ask yourself is this, what do you want from it? Money? Fame? Fun? or a combination of the above?

Personally I do it for the money and the fun, but the money comes first, that's why I DJ as I would run a business, I aim to exceed the expectations of the customer and as a secondary aim: to enjoy it, because that makes me better. It's the fame seekers that bother me, these guys with the myspaces and websites, the ones that want to be at the top today but can't get any kind of a gig outside his house because the local bar owners don't like his attitude.

wow most of u guys are wasting ur breath & aren't speaking to anyone. I have no idea how this thread got steared this way. u guys are crazy.

one misunderstanding is alot of u are mistaking a turntabilist for a battle dj. just wanted to throw that in the pit.

We should arrange a "table pushing" contest!
Just to see how far it's possible to push a table.

I'll lay down the rules:

The table pushing contest:

1. Any table can be used
2. One or two hands is optional
3. 2 categories of pushing: "Standstill push" & "Running start push"
- choose the one you like best or enter both competitions!

Join http://www.youtube.com/group/tablepushers this group on YouTube, and upload your table pushing videos.
A contest winner will be announced every month, with special prizes to be won.

Let's start pushing!
