Ok I just found a major flaw in the "remove played" option in the automix.
I play long shifts on some days. This requires me to occasionally repeat songs. Well... if I cue up a song to the automix that was previously played... if I hit the remove played button it removes my FUTURE plays in the automix (the ones that were played earlier in the night).
Big problem. This issue has to be addressed in the next feature. While you can debate the usefullness of the single deck setup... this stupid "removed played" feature is just bad. Just have the tracks come off the playlist automatically.

@CanSpoilU... WHAT are you saying ?, "remove played" does exactly what it says.. manually remove songs that have played during the current session.
If you don't like it just don't use it.
I don't want the software to do things like "automatically",.. i need control.

Probably the biggest reason we like the previous Automix was seeing the second song loaded up.... it enables us to adjust cue points, see the song, and if returning from a break etc its very easy to go back to manual and maybe mix the next one live..

OH MY GOD, the world is gonna end. I'm gonna stop laughing long enough, to give you a tip. I know this may be hard for you, but try this. Right click the song (that you just have to play twice), and select REMOVE PLAYED FLAG. It may take you all of 2 seconds, precious time you could be sitting at the bar, or doing something else more important, but hey, that's why you get paid the big money. Now, if you have some kind of physical disability, that prevents you from right clicking, I will apologize for my behavior. That's the kind of guy I am.

The new AutoMix-funtion of Virtual DJ 5.0 now works almost like any other mediaplayer can do. No more cueing a track on the non-used deck to make any kind of automix (lenght or sort crossfade doesn't matter). Seems like a lot of user just wanna use Automix for other purposes and don't even know about the possibily's of the old Automix-function of Virtual DJ. So it would be fair if both kind of the Automix-funtions could be intergrated in the next versions of Virtual DJ.

Yes but why should we have to do all these workarounds for something that should just work the way it should be? I really don't know why the songs don't get removed from the playlist as they are played like version 4 did. Why make this change? What purpose does it suit and why would anyont want to keep previously played songs on the current automix playlist?

Then you shouldn't be using the automix in the first place if this doesn't suit your style. ;-) It's not an issue for you.
I really don't understand why this was changed in the first place. I can see the benefits of the single deck automix. Fine. But why screw around with the playlist? Why keep songs there that are already played through the automix? What possibly good thing can come out of that?

Virtual DJ 5.0 supports both Auto-mix and Auto-crossfade. For more info take a look at:AUTOMIX SHORTCUT

Agreed here too. I like seeing the ENTRY point of the next song.. Many times i've seen this new automix start almost a minute into the song.. cutting off a vital part of it

With the new automix there is a function where u can say with or without intro n specify the seconds of the transition.. plus u have that extra deck to play n listen too first b4 put in the list or play:)
there is the automix type, n u can select the duration when fading in:) I think u have make that as smart mode in the automix type.. as that usually more to the club setting..Try set it to fade (keep intro/outro) n make it 2 s the lenght of the transition.hope this helps:)

Which we already had before v5 using the Preview function(and it is still there - absolute great function!)

you can't set cues in the preview .......
in Traktor there is a dedicated preview player complete with stripe ! so , altthough you can't set cues you can see potential places in advance ....pretty neat ... wish vdj had that
i often wonder do the dev teamers have copies of the competition ?? do any of the beta testers have copies of the competition ........
i would make a good beta tester

For a couple of days now I've been playing with the automix function trying to validate an opinion. What I came up with was the questions of? If I was doing a wedding, what would be the difference in auto mix. Same question applied to the club / bar setting.
I got the same answer to both. I think automix function is great and I like how it functions. At a wedding, I don't think anyones paying attention to how much the songs are blending together. especially during coctail and meal time. The club / bar setting is the same way. If your manually mixing then your mix about 4 - 16 beat of the intro and outro anyway so no one is hearing a the beginning anyway.
When I used to play with minidisc and had a coctail disc / dinner disc and a afterdinner disc. Not one person ever commented on the gaps. I got plenty of comments on the great choice of music but no one ever noticed the gaps.
We are there to do a job of entertaining and fullfiling an obligation to the host of making the most of our time. When it's time to MC then the gaps or intro's don't matter because the focus is on the MCing. When DJing, then people are paying attention to themselves with a subconcience to the dj style.
I believe that if your a GOOD DJ / MC then you work with what you have and put your best foot forward infront of the tools. Not the tools inplace of the person.
We are in a people business and the technology is hear to help us be the best people person. We shouldn't hide behind the instruments and have it do our job.
Remember: this is not a shot to anyone just an opinion. Believe me, on the slow nights during the weekday. I want to load the songs in the play list and cruise the night away. But my dedication to my craft will not allow me to do this. That's just me! I still place songs on the play list side but manually play the songs as I see fit.

fatkatzdk,
This thread has nothing to do about what people think automix is for or who is a better/worse DJ for using it...Nor our obligation to mix live or not. all of us have to feel good about what we do and sleep well at night.... Our DJing skills are not on trial here... God bless if you or anyone can handle a huge wedding party by yourself with 7 or 8 intro songs all with specific cue points and not use automix while making the announcements and guiding people to their positions.....oh...and in front of 300 people...
What is on trial is the new version of the software. 4.3 had a feature that many MANY paid users received tremendous value from. We are now trying to work together to see if we can mimic that same value-added feature in 5.2 or if a software revision that offers the old style/new style of automix is required.
My opinion is a revision that offers the old way of doing it along with an option for the new configuration will accomplish 2 things:
1) Make many fans and paid users of the old version extremely happy.
2) Make Virtual DJ a even more versatile program continuing to prove it is the best out there!
Thx.
Vin.
